The sun rose up for the pups, again, as the sun usually does, every single day of the year. Every pup was thinking their age, playing, eating, sleeping a little longer, thinking about the imminent next mission in which they would be risking their lives in, a dangerous mission that most likely would take their lives one day. Also, Chase was thinking about Marshall's secret.
"Wake up, pups!", called Chase. Skye, Everest and Marshall started to open their eyes. The others, not so much.
"Hey, come on, guys. It's a beautiful day out here!", said Marshall. The three of them growled a little, they looked like zombies.
"What's wrong with you guys?", asked Everest. Rocky tried standing up, followed by Zuma.
"Rocky...?" Zuma spoke.
"Yeah...?"
"Never... bring your energy drink to a party... ever.", he growled.
"Granted-" was the last thing the mixed pronounced when his stomach started rejecting everything he had eaten the night before. Poor Rocky had to rush to the bathroom followed by the two other zombie pups.
"I guess they're skipping breakfast." joked Marshall. Good one, Marshall.
"Breakfast ready, pups!" Ryder called from the kitchen this time.
"Speaking of."
The boy had just finished filling their bowls with pup food and gave a quick check on social media in his pup pad when the pups walked in.
"Oh, there you are. Where are the others?" he said as he turned off his screen.
"Zuma said something about Rocky's new drink."
"Ugh, I told him to lower the effervescence on that thing."
That means a mess in their tummies.
Eating in silence is terribly boring, and often a bad sign. Ryder learned that the hard way. "So... how was your date with Katie last night?" Chase inquired, making him choke uncontrollably on his cup of coffee. None of the pups would admit that it was kind of funny.
"Ehmm..." he cleared his throat. "It was fine."
"Just fine?"
"Y-Yeah, I uh...", poor boy. "I'm gonna check on the others, finish your breakfast" And just with that the embarrased leader ran off.
"I'll ask Katie later." Skye declared.
Back to our current affair, Chase had had enough with being waiting around for Marshall to explain to him what was he up to, like he promised. That itch in his head wasn't going anywhere, and it was a perfect moment, since Everest, the potential second suspect, was there with them, just like Skye, to act as witness.
"So Marshall, about the thing, you know...?"
"May I at least finish my breakfast in peace?" Marshall rolled his eyes in disgust.
This shook Chase more than anyone could think of. "Oh, sorry."
Breakfast continued awkwardly for the German Shepherd, and finished with everyone running to the front yard to play. Marshall and Everest walked apart, while Skye went down a tree to lay down.
Chase watched from the entrance, like he had nothing better to do.
"Ok, what are they hiding from me? I know for sure that Everest was on the phone that day, but I gotta hear it from him."
The pup was starting to become a nuisance.
"This is getting boring."
Try doing something useful, police pup. Chase directed his view to his pup house, originally thinking of resting from last night's failure. But that would have been too easy, so instead, some sort of plan popped in his head.
"If he doesn't want to tell me, what options do I have?"
Someone should have stopped him right there. Sounds like the kind of thinking that blows in your face of how bad of a plan it is.
"Hey, Chase!" Oh look, someone who could have stopped him. Skye came back from her slumber and had just walked up to Chase to invite him to play. "Wanna play some ball with me?"
Chase... did not make a big deal of it. "Eh, I'm kinda busy right now, Skye. Maybe later." he said totally indifferent. Did he just reject his crush? He did, but he was not really paying attention. Still, you could almost hear Skye's heart break a little as she watched him run to his pup house.
"Hey, Skye! Over here!" Everest called her making a sign with her paw to pass the ball. Skye faked a smile and slammed the toy, which rolled right towards Marshall.
"Do you know what's wrong with Chase?"
"Not really." Marshall answered.
"He seems a little... distracted." She was curious.
"I bet he's fine", the Dalmatian did not want to drag on the subject too much, as it kind of involved him.
Now, for real. Chase was up to something. That thing he had on his little head had gone a little too far, and now he was full suited with his spy gear and reado to climb to the nearest tree to spy on his friend the rest of the day.
"Super spy Chase is on the case!" He seriously thought it was a good idea.
"PAW Patrol, to the Lookout!" The sound of Ryder's voice echoed inside his empty pup house and in his head, as a reminder that he had way more important things to do. "Oh, come on, Ryder!", but he still cursed at his leader in his head once again.
"Ryder needs us!"
After the usual turnout of the elevator scene, everyone was in front of the screen. We will just skip to the mission.
"Thanks for hurrying over, Farmer Al's cows escaped the barn and they're all over town." Another mission involving dealing with nearly useless grown ups and their problems. "For this mission I need, Skye! I need you to look from above, and keep track of the missing cows."
"Let's take to the sky!", she was specially excited to go, since it was the kind of mission Ryder would pair her up with Chase.
"I also need Chase!" Of course it was. "We'll use your megaphone and net if we... wait." Ryder took a better look at his German Shepherd and something was off.
"Any problem, sir?" Chase asked.
"Why are you on your spy gear? I needed police pup Chase for this rescue." Poor little Chase did not noticed he still had his spy gear on from earlier. How to explain why?
"E-Eh, I..."
"Meh, I guess Super Spy Chase could be useful too." Ryder had no reason to make a big deal of it, and just shrugged it off, although he was curious too.
"Y-Yeah, Super Spy Chase is on the case!", the pup exclaimed a little nervous.
"Ok... PAW Patroll is on a roll!" Ryder called, still not convinced.
