I woke to the sound of little taps on my window. I attempted to go back to sleep to continue hearing a tap tap tap at my window. I angrily got out of bed and opened my window.

"What the hell?" I say, looking down out my window.

"Hey, Jen! It's 7:20 a.m., you wanna be late for our first day of Junior year?!" My friend Hannah yells.

"What the hell did you throw at my window?" I yell back at her.

"Pencils! I have a ton!" She yells while rounding the side of the house to the front door.

"I'll be down in a sec!" I yell while shutting my window.

I rush around my room, desperately looking for something to wear. I threw on some random clothes I found on the floor. I grab my bag and head downstairs.

"Why are you in such a rush? It's only 6:30 a.m." My mom says while I open the front door.

"But Hannah said it was 7:20," I say, confused.

"Well, it's not." My mom states while cleaning the table.

I rush out the door to face Hannah.

"Why did you lie?" I respond, agitated.

"I know if I didn't, it would've taken you forever to get ready, and besides, I want to get to school early so I can check out some of my new classes and get breakfast." She replies unbothered.

"Whatever, let's go," I say while walking down the driveway.

We walked to school silently, for the cold made it hard to talk. When we arrived at school, the doors weren't even open yet. I wanted to go inside. February was very chilly, especially in the early mornings.

"I could still be in bed right now," I pout.

"Oh, stop complaining. The doors should open in ten minutes," Hannah remarked, annoyed.

"Hey, look who it is! Hannah and Jennie!" Hannah and I hear a familiar voice call out.

I see Cody and Chris, my and Hannah's best friends.

"Well, I'll be darned. I'm surprised you guys got up this early," Chris jokes. "Blame Hannah." I retort.

"What? You wake up on the wrong side of the bed or something?" Cody snarked while sitting down on the steps.

"She's just angry that I woke her up early," Hannah explains.

"Awwww, did Jennie not get enough sleep last night? Poor, poor Jennie." Chris says jokingly.

"Just shut up," I respond while getting up.

Chris was about to respond when the janitor opened the front doors. We all head inside. I was relieved that the building was nice and warm.

"Well, who's up for some breakfast? I'm starving." Chris says as he walks to the cafeteria, Hannah and Cody following behind.

"I am." Cody and Hannah respond.

"One sec, guys, I'll catch up. I have to grab something from my locker," I say while heading down the hall in the opposite direction.
