Chapter 18
Tiger POV: Uriah
I wasn't the type of person to get nervous. I rarely got nervous. I didn't even get nervous when I randomly asked Levi if he wanted to make out with me when I had no indication if he liked me or not.
But right now, during the election to see who the Tiger's captain would be, I was extremely nervous. I knew I had three votes for sure. I just didn't know for sure if Nevaeh was going to vote for me.
Before the Tigers were going to vote, Wayne and I were given a chance to tell everyone why they should vote for us. And by everyone, I do mean everyone in the school. Mr. Hicks thought it would be good public speaking practice for it to be in front of everyone.
It was taking place in the gymnasium and once everyone was there, Levi gave me a thumbs up and I couldn't help but smile at him. He was too adorable for me not to smile at.
"Alright, let's get this Tiger election started," Mr. Hicks said. "Both Wayne and Uriah will take their turn stating why they would be a good captain for the Tigers. Afterwards, I'll hand each Tiger a slip with Wayne and Uriah's name on it. You check the box beside the name of the person you're voting for. I'll then count the votes. If it's a tie, Wayne will continue being the captain. Otherwise, the one with the most votes win. Wayne, you first."
This was going to be interesting. Wayne was a massive idiot so no doubt all the points he said were going to be illogical.
"I've been Tiger captain for two years now and there has never been a single complaint before," Wayne said. "I'm one of the most athletic Tigers in this school and I try to think of every single Tiger, not just myself."
I rolled my eyes. Wayne was the epitome of selfish. He didn't care about us at all considering he, you know, said he would make Astrid's life a living hell just because she wanted to keep talking to her brother in the Coyote house.
"Why would you want to change something that's already working?" Wayne continued. "If most of the Tigers think I'm doing a good job, and the principal does as well considering he chose me, then why change it now?"
This was starting to get amusing. I was still debating if I should tell everyone that Wayne became the captain because of his parents' 'donation' but right now, I was leaning towards it.
"Not only that but I don't keep secrets from my fellow Tigers," Wayne said. "Unlike Uriah."
"What on earth are you talking about?" I asked.
"Oh, you know," Wayne said. "Just the fact that you have been sneaking around with a certain someone."
"Sneaking around?" I repeated.
Wayne didn't reply right away. He just gestured to his best friend Dakota, who handed Wayne a tablet. Wayne flipped the tablet around, showing everyone the screen which had a picture of me and Levi.
Kissing.
"As you can see, Uriah has been keeping a secret from everyone," Wayne said. "What kind of captain keeps secrets from their house?"
Oh, I was so going to destroy Wayne.
That little hypocrite.
I glanced at Nevaeh, who didn't look happy at all. I didn't blame her. Wayne was trying, for some reason, to use my relationship with Levi as a reason why I couldn't be captain when this whole time, he has been in a secret relationship with Nevaeh.
