It was the week of Cassidy's due date she didn't know that Bucky was in town visiting his mom. Cassidy dropped her bowl of ramen all over the floor when a contraction ripped through her and "MOM!!!" she yelled
Katherine came in and said "Oh god let's go baby."
She got Cassidy in the car and she was screaming from the pain and Katherine called Winnie.
"Hey Katherine.." Winnie said
"Hey Winnie ...." Katherine
"OH GOD!!! this fucking hurts!!!" Cassidy yelled
"She's in labor Winnie we are headed to the hospital now." Katherine
"Mmm god mom please hurry... " she yelled again.
Bucky could hear her and he looked down and Winnie said "Okay..I'll be there."
Winnie hung up the phone and she said "Come on.."
"But mom I'm sure I'm the last person she wants there right now. I still don't believe that she told you that she loves me cause she's never messaged me since I left." he said
"James because you yelled at her that you fucking hate her and didn't even apologize for it." Winnie said
Bucky got in the car with his mom and they got to the hospital and they found her room. "Hey Cass.." Winnie said
"Hey Winnie." she said
"I have a surprise for you.." Winnie said and she moved and Bucky bit his lip and bracing himself for her to yell at him. When she didn't yell he looked up at her and she swallowed hard and she wiped tears as she broke into tears.
He wiped tears and he walked over to her and he wiped tears off her cheeks and he whispered "I'm sorry Cass. Don't you dare give that baby your last name please. I miss you baby god do I miss you. I'm so sorry baby I never meant to yell at you like I did that day and I didn't know Steve was going to go tell the boys what I said I didn't tell them. Steve said that he only relayed what I told him and they took the wrong way."
"Mmmm oh god.. Bucky I'm sorry I broke our rule that's what hurt me the most that day was you said that you fucking hate me and all I could think in that moment was how much I was falling in love with you." she said even though she was in pain.
The doctor came in and said "How are we doing Ms Mercer?'
"I'm in a lot of pain and I feel like something is wrong." she said
Bucky was about to let go of her face and she grabbed his hand as the doctor checked her and she said "Ok we are at about an 8 and I just broke your water and wait.."
"Okay Cassidy this is going to hurt but he's feet first and we can't deliver feet first so I'm going to try and flip okay?' the doctor said
The doctor tried to flip him but Cassidy screamed and clenched and she said "Okay Cass we need to relax I can't flip him."
"It hurts." she said
The moment she said those words Bucky realized who Cassidy was in that moment and he whispered "Natasha's 14th birthday."
"What?' she said
"later baby.. um do you not have an epidural?' he said
"No I don't want pain medicine." she screamed as the doctor thought if she was distracted she would be able to flip the baby.
"okay Ms Mercer you are going to have to get that epidural now we are going to do an emergency c section." the doctor said.
They got her and Bucky prepped for the surgery and Bucky sat by her head and she said "Why did you whisper that."
He leaned down in her ear and whispered "Baby when I first found out you were the new captain I couldn't figure out which was you on the squad and then I seen you and even after everything we have done I still couldn't figure out how I missed someone so gorgeous. Turns out I didn't miss you I had you in a closet at Nat's birthday."
He looked at her and she looked at him confused and he fixed his hair to where his back was to the doctor and he kissed her lips and whispered "We were playing 7 minutes in heaven we got paired up and we were kissing and I went to play and you said don't you dare and started to kiss you again and started to kiss your neck and suck and that distracted you long enough for me to play with you and I got carried away and popped your cherry with my fingers. You started to cry and said it hurts and I wanted to make you feel better so I had a condom and we had sex in the closet at 14 it was both of our first times clearly but your last name wasn't mercer back then."
She wiped tears and said "No it wasn't back then I still had my dad's last name of Taylor Cassidy Jo Taylor was my name my mom changed it to hers right before freshmen year cause my dad sent her a letter asking if he could sign his rights over cause he didn't want to pay child support anymore cause he had a new family."
Then they heard a cry and they both looked and the doctor said "Daddy I presume come cut the cord."
Bucky cut the cord and the nurse cleaned him up and laid him down on her chest and Bucky said "He's a chunk baby what have you been feeding my boy."
"I craved a lot of burgers" she said with a laugh through tears.
He started laughing and said "Do you have a name?'
"Um I wasn't sure what his name was suppose to be." she said as she looked up at him.
"Oh.." he said
He snapped a picture and sent it to his mom and she said "But I did like the Lincoln James."
"I like that baby." he said
A few hours later after she was all stitched up and in her hospital room feeding him she was playing with his tiny fingers and Bucky watched her and he walked over to her and carefully sat beside her on the bed and he whispered "Hey" when he seen that Lincold was asleep.
She looked over at him and said "You know what this means right."
"What? That I have to be a mom and a student." she said
"No.. well yeah but this means you should be sleeping with me." he whispered with smile
She rolled her eyes and whispered "James Buchanan Barnes.. I'm feeding our son and just surgery and you are thinking about sex."
"No I was trying to see if you liked my new pick up line for you." he whispered
She smiled and pulled his chin to hers and kissed him and whispered "Always baby.."
"So you are saying there's a chance I might get lucky again cause I haven't gotten laid in awhile. The last girl I slept with was incredible in bed she was so feisty." he said
"Stop.." she whispered.
She unlatched Lincoln and let Bucky hold him. "Hey little guy I'm your daddy and I promise you that I won't be such a hard ass like your grandpa. Sending me away from your mama leaving her all alone was hard to do even if I was mad for a little awhile." he said to him
