Hope

                                              Shining in the distance
Glittering from afar
And dazzling in the sun
Is bright hope
                          It looks so beautiful
You want to reach out and touch it
But once you get close enough
It is snatched away
                          A dark mass consumes it
Leaving nothing behind but
Emptiness
And broken dreams

                          You wish you were wiser
To not let hope get the best of you
But that's the thing with hope
It lures you in every time
                          Hope makes you think it's worth it
Hope makes you believe you can do it
Hope makes you trust that it's possible
Hope lies.
