" I never thought that I had a safe haven but now I've found mine and it's in my lord, and my family." -Amara Abdullahi, FH.CHAPTER TWO: Become One
Amara Abdullahi
That's it Amara just turn the dang doorknob and push open the door, my mind commanded. If it were that easy then why does it feel so hard? Why do I always have a panic attack when it might not even be a big deal? "Amara, you can do it. Look... I know you're scared but we all are. So lets just all face our fears together." Hamid whispered to me. He's right, I can't just keep being scared. We need to see her and I'm the only one holding us back. With a big breath I turn the doorknob and push open the door. Mom was laying there watching the TV just like she always is. I let out a sigh of relief and ran up to her.
"Umma!" I exclaimed as I gave her a big hug and kiss.
Mahirah was next to tackle her in hugs and kisses. Hamid gave mom a peck on the cheek, we all just smiled glad that she was okay. "My babies, did I worry you?" Our mother asked with a sad look in her eyes. Before we could even answer the door opened and in came Amran and Nur. "Umma you're okay, Alhamdulilah" My sister exclaimed, showering mom with hugs and kisses as well. My brother-in-law, Nur, and Hamid both stood at the corner of the room talking about who knows what."Yes I'm fine Alhamdulilah. I just had a high fever that's all but I'm okay now." Umma responded as she smiled at all of us in reassurance.
I was glad to know she was okay, Alhamdulilah. It feels like I could put my heart to rest now. Like we could all finally breathe again, all I hope is that things could stay this way. Oh Allah please keep my family safe that's all I ask of you. In my life, I never thought that I had a safe haven but now I've found mine and it's in my lord, and my family.

The moment I walked into the bathroom to brush my teeth, I heard my brother's loud banging on the door. "Amara hurry up in the bathroom I need to take a shower!!" Hamid exclaimed as continued to knock on the door loudly. God, why does he always need it when I'm in the bathroom? Why couldn't he have used it thirty minutes ago when it was wide open? Twins, I swear. "Too bad so sad bro. I was in here first!" I called through the other side of the door. I could practically see him bang his head against the wall in annoyance. You don't go 17 years of being a twin without picking up somethings here and there.
"But you take forever!!" He whined.
"Just give me 10 minutes, God!" I groaned.
I then turned back around and looked at myself in the mirror ahead of me. I looked like the actual definition of a hot mess, with my dark brown hair poking out of all directions of my head, and I had bags underneath my black eyes. I quickly grabbed a comb and started to brush my hair, after that I washed my face and brushed my teeth. After 5 minutes I looked somewhat presentable so just to top it off I put my long brown hair in a high bun. I then opened the door and exited the bathroom. "Took you long enough." My brother groaned. "I take way less than you do and you know it." I replied with a smug grin. That shut him up for good.
