CHAPTER FOUR: Annoyed

Zubair Hassan

People have always looked at me as a player ever since I was fifteen years old, and to be honest, I never wanted to be looked at as that. To be judged before even having a chance to show who I really am. It's probably exactly what Amara thinks of me as well, just a no good guy who likes toying with girls. Is it true? No! Okay... well maybe I did it once or twice when I was younger but that's not the kind of guy I am now. She at least should try to get to know me before she declares her hate for me so soon. Well, at the end of the day, I did get her detention... Anyways why should I even care? What's the harm in one detention? It's not like it's life or death.

"Hey man." Jamal exclaimed as he walked up to me. I guess I was too deep in thought to even notice him walking up to me.

"What's wrong with you?" He asked. I turned and looked at him with a serious expression. "Do you think of me as a player?" I asked. For a moment he was quiet, well there's my answer.

"Have you seen the girls chasing after you?" He asked with a slight chuckle. Well that I have no control over so why is it my fault?

"I can't help that."

"Whatever man. What time is your detention over?"

Shoot, I forgot that it was about to start soon. Wait a minute... two hours... in a room with Amara... that doesn't sound quite bad. I'll make her like me, no one can resist my charm. No seriously I'm irresistible. Get ready Amara cause imma win you over...

"I don't know...about five o'clock?"

"Oh yeah you're having it with Hamid's twin who's always quiet right?" He asked with both eyebrows raised in curiosity. I wonder why she's so quiet and always keeps to herself. Something must've happened to her or was she always like that? I wonder why I'm so intrigued by her. Maybe it's because she's like a mystery? Ever since I was little I would always love to solve mysteries and crack cases open. To me, she's like a mystery that I need to solve.

"That's the one." I answered.

"Why do you think she's like that?" I couldn't help but ask.

Jamal sighed while rubbing his chin. He had a sad look on his tan face. Okay that's weird, this dude is rarely ever sad. He's the happy go skippy kind of guy. That's why he's my best friend, whenever anyone is down he'd find a way to make them smile. "Hamid told me. When she and Hamid were 11 their mother was diagnosed with cancer. Her father couldn't take it so he indulged himself in alcohol and then ended up walking out on them. She lives with her older sister and her brother -in-law- now. Her and her family have been through a lot so I understand why she's like that."
