Year 382 of the Gorlund Calendar – Frost Fall Day 6
*Knock knock* I awoke to find the rising sun's light shining in my eyes. I sat up in bed to find unfamiliar surroundings. At first I was shocked but then I saw two faces that I knew, Ethan and Stephanie were sleeping peacefully in the beds beside mine. That's when I remembered what happened two nights before. I quickly felt around in the pocket of my cloak which was hanging at the foot of my bed. I found what I was looking for, the letter we were meant to deliver to the Dwarven king.
*Knock knock* I realized that there was still someone at the door. I quickly opened the door to be greeted by three soldiers holding big wooden chests on their shoulders. "A delivery from the major for MR Posy, MS Pendragon and a MS Meyer. "Well I don't know what this is about, but you can leave the chests over there." I said pointing to an open area of the room. After putting down the chests one of the soldiers handed me an envelope and left without a word. Can you believe that Ethan and Steph were still asleep. I woke them up and told them about the chests. I tore opened the envelope to find a note I just read 'Enjoy'. "Well I like the Major's sense of humor" Said Ethan smiling from ear to ear. We opened the chests that had our names inscribed on them. I gasped when I was what mine contained. It was coal black full set of armor with the golden insignia of the Dragon Slayer's warrior clan. It was a lion with a great spread out mane. I took out the armor to find a new shield decorated in the same was. Next to it was a sword sheath with silver framing just the right size to fit my sword and another obsidian sword with an identical sheath and a dagger with a lion head as its pommel. I looked over to the others to see them trying out their new equipment, they had also received a obsidian sword unlike me who already had the Pendragon Sword. Their swords had words that had to be said in the ancient tongue to activate their magical elements. Ethan's sword had the element of air and the words he had to say were ), his Equipment was decorated in a dark blue. Steph's sword had the element of water, the words she had to say were , her Equipment was a wine red. We were all astonished and happy to have received such gifts.
We decided to go and thank the Major but unfortunately, she had left on a mission. After we had our breakfast we packed up the few things that we needed including food and tents onto our horses. We had decided to leave before the day got hot.
As we rode through the village with fully clad in armor save for our helmets we heard whispers from the villagers who were wondering who we were. I looked over to Ethan and Steph who were smiling with pride. I kept a solemn face but inside I was jumping with joy.
By sundown we had not yet reached the next city of Vestolia, so we found and open meadow to set up camp where we would be able to see any intruders from far away. Steph set up our tents while Ethan gathered wood and started a fire. I had just finished feeding the horses and giving them water when I heard a whistle. I looked around for the source to see about five men walking towards us. "Well, well, well what do we have here" said the one of the men in the front. Evidently, he was the leader of these bandits. Luckily, we had not taken off any of our equipment. "Leave now and nobody has to get hurt" I said putting my hand on my sword. "HAHAHAHAHA" Laughed all the bandits. "Well little lady how about you hand over all your belongings and that nice armor of yours and we won't hurt you" Said the leader. "yeah boss you tell her!" Shouted one of the other bandits "That's not going to happen" Said Ethan taking his shield off of his back while unsheathing his sword. "Why you little..." said the leader before I punched him in his face knocking him out cold before he could finish his sentence. Steph and Ethan were by my side in an instant shields and swords ready. I had my sword and Dagger ready. "You'll pay for that" Shouted a bandit while drawing his sword. Theses bandits were armed with spears, short swords, small round shields and were using steel armor. Unfortunately for them our equipment was much superior to theirs.
