Dragon slayers: Chapter 6

I woke up before my other two squad mates, got dressed and went downstairs to order our breakfast to be brought up to our room. After that I woke up the others and told them to get readied up.

Stella the serving girl knocked on our and brought in our food. When she left we locked the door and took off our helmets to eat our food.

After eating we put on our helmets and went downstairs to pay for our breakfast but as we reached the bottom of the stairs I could sense some tension from the early morning customers. I followed all of their states to the bar where there was a group of eight men well clad in armor with weapons. One of them was clearly hassling Stella for something. "Come on honey just one kiss" said the man grabbing Stella by the front of her collar attempting to pull her closer as she resisted. " I cannot stand by and watch as a woman is disrespected, unhand her at once or I'll be forced to take action" said Ethan drawing his sword. Steph and I followed his lead, I drew my dual short swords as Steph drew her sword and shield. "And who the hell are you guys?" Asked the guy in front. Drawing his long sword. "I'm the black night and these are my comerades, we form the Phoenix Squad of the Dragon Slayers Guild. If you are creating problems here in this town you'll have to go through us." I said. "Well then that shouldn't be a problem" said one of the other bandits as they all drew their weapons. The man who was hassling Stella charged towars me and tried an overhead strike but I blocked it by Creating an X shape with both my swords, his strike was powerful enough to make my knees buckle slightly but not fully. I threw his sword back by slashing my swords in opposite directions, causing him to stagger which was enough for me to move in and punch him unconscious. The rest of his men charged us together. Two attacked Steph who blocked one side slash with her shield and the other with her sword she then flicked her sword to disarm one of them who then surrendered by kneeling on the floor. The other was determined to get a hit in and started slashing his longsword around in no particular pattern, which made it a bit difficult for Steph to read his moves, but with speed and that sword you need stamina and unfortunately for the man he did not have much and was soon out of breath, that's when Steph put her sword to his neck forcing him into submission. Meanwhile Ethan had already wounded one of the three men who attacked him with a cut to the left arm, the other two men were eyeing him carefully looking for an opening. I turned just in time to see a side slash coming my way and managed to jump back, successfully dodging it. I then followed with two quick strikes against this man's sword knocking clear and then cut his legs on the inside preventing him from running away. The last man charged me and knocked me onto my back and followed with a downward overhead strike which I narrowly dodged by rolling out of the way. Stephanie jumps in and blocked the next overhead strike for me, she knocked is sword to the side and I kicked his legs out from underneath him and we both held our swords to his neck. "Now drop your weapon and you won't get hurt said Steph. "Ok,ok" said the man dropping his sword and I kicked it out of arms reach. The last two men thought the better of it to go against us and turned to run but the commander of the garrison was at the door about ten towns guardmen were standing behind him. "Now, now where do you think your going?" Asked the commander giving a slight smile. Put them in shackles said the commander and his men rushed into the inn to follow his orders. The last two men dropped their weapons and got down on the floor. "Well you helped us again... Uh ... Ms... I never got your name."said the commander. "I never gave it but you can call me the black knight of the Phoenix Squad." I said smiling under my helmet at the made up name I gave. "Well then black knight you have earned this reward" shouted the commander so that all the remaining people in the inn could hear him as he handed over a bag with yet more gold pieces. The people erupted in applause. "Well we appreciate the thought but we don't require another reward because we were just doing or jobs" I said holding up my hand to silence the crowd. Which was to their liking and they erupted into an even louder round of applause. "I called the town's guard" said Stella looking pleased. "Well your help was much appreciated" said Ethan enthusiastically. "If you're ever in Vestolia again and you need a place to stay then your welcome here free of charge" said Stella. "If we're ever in town we'll be sure to take you up on your offer" replied Ethan.
