I was sitting in Annabeth Jackson's living room, having a cup of coffee. Annabeth and I work together for the same company. She had decided on inviting us all over for dinner one night and today was the day.
Annabeth had invited 8 of us over for dinner. I looked around the living room. It was very beautifully designed. She had a mixture of modern and old architecture that fit perfectly with each other.
The doorbell rang just as Annabeth came out of the kitchen carrying a tray full of delicious looking baked goods. Annabeth opened the door to find Hannah. She hugged her and sat down next to me. So far 7 of us were here.
While we waited for Caitlyn to show up, we talked. Annabeth told us more about herself and her family. She had been married to a man named Percy whom she had known for 14 years!
As we talked, I reached to get a cookie only to find it....blue? Annabeth saw the look on my face and laughed.
"They're Percy's favourite. Blue chocolate chip cookies. He kind of had this thing for blue food since he was a kid." She said.
"Where is he now?" Asked Duncan. Annabeth's smile faltered.
"He joined the army a few months before we got married." She said sadly. "He's serving a tour in Afghanistan right now. He's been gone for almost a year."
Ally put her arm around Annabeth's shoulders. "He'll be back before you even know it. Just remember that he loves you and you'll be okay," she said.
Annabeth nodded. I checked the time. Caitlyn still wasn't here and it had been 25 minutes past from when she was supposed to be.
Soon enough, it was time to eat dinner. I hadn't been more eager to eat than today. Being divorced at the age of 26 and left with paying the mortgage for a house that was big enough for 20 people was hard. I rarely got to eat something that I hadn't cooked.
"Well i'm going to set the table so just wait a few minutes," Annabeth said.
"Oh, I'll help!" Ally said. The two walked over to Annabeth's perfectly organized kitchen.
A few minutes later, the doorbell rang again. Finally, I thought. Caitlyn decided to show up.
"I'll get it!" I yelled. I got up and opened the door, only to find a man I didn't recognize. He had messy black hair and beautiful sea green eyes. He was wearing a black leather jacket over his white shirt and black jeans. He also had a black duffel bag hanging from his right shoulder.
"Hi," I said. The man looked at me confused.
"Who are you?" He asked.
"Well my name's Savannah. I'm a friend of Annabeth Jackson. Do you know her?" I asked.
Before he could reply, Annabeth shouted from the kitchen.
"Savannah who is it? If it's Caitlyn you better tell her to get her butt in here and tell me why she's late!"
At that moment the man bursted into the house, the same time as Annabeth came out of the kitchen. She looked at the man and suddenly her expression changed. She dropped the jug she was holding in her hands, letting the glass shatter.
"Oh my gods," she basically whispered. I exchanged looks with my friends who looked as confused as me.
Annabeth ran and threw her arms around the man's neck. She buried her face in his shoulder and burst into tears. The man dropped his bag and wrapped his arms around Annabeth tightly.
Then they did something that surprised me. They kissed. I didn't mean to stare but I couldn't help but notice Annabeth's smile while she was kissing the man. But, Duncan being and idiot cleared his throat pretty loud. The 2 broke apart and looked at them.
"Guys this is Percy Jackson, my husband. Seaweed brain these are my friends from work." She said happily.
Ohhhh! This was Percy. He wasn't anything like what I had thought. We went around introducing our selves and shook hands with Percy.
Soon we all sat down at the table to have dinner. I couldn't help but smile. Annabeth Jackson hadn't smiled this bright since the wedding picture of the 2 on her desk. Annabeth laughed and held hands with Percy.
And that was how I met Percabeth.
