Great, I might've killed him. Azura wondered. She got up from the ground and kicked his unconscious body in the stomach. She thought it would be a good idea to check his pulse. She felt Clay's wrist, and it seemed normal. Just in case, she placed her hand above his mouth to feel his breath. He's just knocked out, so at least I didn't murder him. Azura considered. She picked up Clay's almost lifeless body, and lugged him to where she would set up her little camp.

She collected sticks and twigs so she could make a fire later that night. She strolled through the woods, and found hardly enough wood for a small fire. After a few good hours, Clay woke up. "What happened?" he inquired, still dazed. Azura was still setting down twigs and branches when she heard him. "You fought a drunk at a tavern and got kicked out." she knew Clay wouldn't believe a bit she said if she told him the truth.

"Nonsense!" he protested, "I, the prince of... uh.. Stonedale, would never lose a fight." Azura found it was hilarious to conversate with one who is speaking nonsense. "That's what happened. You should see the other guy, though. It was a 'close call.'" She emphasized the quotation marks with her fingers. Clay didn't seem to notice her sarcastic gesture. They kept fighting over nothing until his common sense returned.

"Wait, what am I doing here? In the forest? Why am I talking to you?" he was really confused.

"Okay, okay don't freak out. Do you remember going to the forest and meeting me there?"

"Yes, but it's a bit blurry. Why are you asking me this?"

"I need you to understand. You have to believe what happened. I saw you in the forest, I was tired of you hurting me, so I beat the crap out of you. Do you feel your teeth missing? Your nose broken? Can you see out of your black eye?"

"No, that's impossible. A sissy like you can't beat me up! I'd believe you more if you said I got kicked by a unicorn."

"It hApPeNeD ThoUGh!" Azura's voice cracked as she extended her neck out a great distance.

"You look like an ostrich with its head stuck in a fence when you do that." Clay stabbed.

"Do you really have to poke at me now?"  Azura complained.Clay was back to the ruffian he was. Azura was really annoyed now. She wanted to knock him out again.  She added, "If we're going to be stuck here together, you might as well be kind."

"You know what, fine. Do you want to know the truth?" Clay compromised. What truth? Azura wondered.

"What? That you're really a guardian or a diabolical leprechaun?"

"No, you dunce," Clay's eyes welled with tears, "I love you." he sat down and hid his face, so Azura couldn't see his tears. She also became emotional over it, believing he was trying to joke with her.

"What do you mean? Are you trying to mess around? You better be telling the truth."

"No," Clay sobbed, "I am." he wanted to run from her, out of embarrassment.

"Why where you always so mean to me then?" Azura yelled.

Clay looked her in the eyes, "I didn't want other demons to think I was in love with a poor demon. I'm sorry. What can I do to make up for you?"
Azura backed away from Clay. "Why didn't you say something? Your way of showing your love for me was bullying me?"

Clay looked up with remorseful eyes. "I'm sorry.."  He said with a choked voice. "I didn't want to tell you."

Azura gleamed. "And instead you thought it was a good idea to screw me over?"

"I was someone different then. I didn't know what I was doing."

Azura screamed at him, "You NEVER knew what you were doing. Not even NOW."

"I'm sorry! I want to get over this and make up! I'll do anything!"Clay still had hope in his heart to take Azura's. "You'll always mean everything to me," he kneeled down, "a special place in my heart."

"Don't start with that," Azura complained, "I know you're faking it."

"Bu-but.. I.."

"No. You don't need to say anymore. I'm done."
