Rose said that Paranormal Activity wasn't scary. She promised.

And he wasn't scared. He wasn't holding onto her like she was the only thing keeping him from floating off into the Sun. She wasn't smirking at the fact that he was still trying to stay strong.

It was the end of the movie and Katie started screaming demonically from downstairs and Micah shouted for her as he jumped out of bed and ran down to her. He yelled and then there were sounds on commotion and then... silence.

Okay, he thought, I made it.

He held Rose tightly, looking intently at the screen. He breathed in Rose, trying to calm his racing hearts. Rose rubbed his arm soothingly, trying not to break and start laughing because she knew what was coming. Just as the Doctor relaxed, Micah's dead body was thrown at the camera and he screamed.

He screamed like a little girl and Rose started laughing. He watched in horror as Katie got down and licked Micah's face. He yelped when she looked at the camera and flinched when she crawled over Micah's dead body and smiled at them. He absolutely lost it when her face morphed into the demon's.

The screen turned black and he had to realize how his body was situated.

He was pressing a laughing Rose all the way against him with his legs wrapped around her waist. He was looking over her shoulder, hiding his face in her hair. She was shaking, trying to minimize her laughter.

"Humans," he yelled shrilly, "are scary!"

"Scared, Doctor?" Rose asked innocently. The Doctor was scared beyond his wits, but he was much too stubborn to admit it. To Rose or anyone.

"Of course not!" His voice was still high. "I've faced worse things than—" he gestured vaguely to the screen where the credits were beginning to role. "—that!"

Rose cocked an eyebrow, not that he could see. "Really?" she asked dubiously. "Like what?"

"Um—" the Doctor fumbled, "Cybermen. Daleks. I was almost sacrificed to the Mayan Gods! More than once. I've dealt with cannibals, murderers, ducks, I fought in the war of—"

"Ducks?" Rose interrupted. The Doctor nodded earnestly.

"Ducks!" he repeated. "But I fought in the war of 1812! I killed so many lobsters."

Rose blinked. "Don't you mean 'lobsterbacks?'"

"No! I'm talking about my own personal war on lobsters! They'll never show their weird looking faces on land again!"

"Right," Rose said slowly. "Uh, tea?"

"That would be lovely," the Doctor said pleasantly, letting go of her so she could make them tea. She smiled at him, kissed his forehead, and left the library. For a moment, the only sound was the humming of the TARDIS in the Vortex. And then a book fell.

Sure, it was only a book, and the Doctor knew that, but it scared him far more than he was willing to admit. He jumped, yelped, and suddenly found himself on his feet, pointing his sonic at it.

"It's a book," he said out loud. "It's a book."

And then all the books started flying off of their shelves, coming straight at him. His fight or flight instinct kicked in.

He sprinted out of the room, resisting the urge to scream at the top of his lungs. He ran into the kitchen, breathless and terrified. Rose looked up from the kettle, which she had just turned on.

"Rose, the TARDIS is haunted," he announced. Rose blinked.

"I don't think so, Doctor," she said gently. "I think you're just scared. It's okay, I was terrified first time I watched it."

"I'm not scared," the Doctor spluttered. "Just— just come see the library!"

He grabbed her hand and dragged an amused Rose to the... perfectly clean library. What?

"What about the library, Doctor?" Rose asked, crossing her arms over her chest, her eyes sparkling. The Doctor gestured wordlessly to the books on the shelves, flummoxed. Rose kissed him briefly, patted his chest, and walked back to the kitchen, leaving her boyfriend to be adorably confused and terrified by himself.

He pulled out his sonic and snooped around until Rose called for him to drink his tea before it got cold.

He did so in silence, being watched by Rose as he looked everywhere for any signs of demons. He even checked Rose to see if she was possessed. And then he had Rose check him, which she humored him in.

"I'm gonna go to bed," she yawned. "Come on when you're done looking for demons."

She kissed his cheek and left. He glared suspiciously around the kitchen, fully ready to throw a mug at a demon.

He followed her, his back pressed against the wall. Rose somehow held it together when she looked back and saw him scooting along the wall, holding a fork in one hand and a mug of cold tea in another. She closed the door to their room before he could hear her laughing.

He threw open the door to their room, brandishing his fork as Rose was brushing her teeth. She rolled her eyes at the sight of him and got into bed. He joined her after he looked under the bed, behind the shower curtain, all of the drawers of their dresser, the closet, the cabinets of the bathroom, and in Rose's ear. She snuggled into his side and promptly fell right to sleep.

The Doctor was up for hours, holding Rose close, fighting to stay awake. It was 2:54, Earth time, when he felt her stir next to him. He looked down with tired eyes as she opened hers. Then she promptly sat straight up, her eyes glazed over and her face blank.

"...Rose?" he squeaked, suddenly wide awake with fear. She said nothing as she got out of bed and slowly made her way into the bathroom. The Doctor couldn't move. He knew that Rose was just messing with him.

But what if she wasn't?

She walked back out, the same as when she walked in. She stood next to the bed for maybe ten seconds before calmly laying down beside him in a very unRoselike manner.

There were about three minutes of silence before Rose suddenly flipped over and was on top of him. He screamed but was soon overwhelmed with her mouth.

She pulled away, laughing. "Doctor, it's okay," she promised. He glared at her. "You're scared."

"I am not scared," he definitely did not pout. Rose kissed him again, which didn't hurt. "Fine, I'm scared," he admitted. "Something happened in the library! I don't know what—"

"I asked the TARDIS to do something to scare you," she smirked.

"Rose!" he protested.

"I'm sorry!" she laughed. It wasn't funny to him. "You're okay, I promise. Now get some sleep."

She snuggled into him and he passed out first. He would never admit it, but long after they watched it, long after Rose had gone, the movie still terrified him.

"Hey, Doctor!"

The Doctor looked up to see Amy holding a dvd that he couldn't see the title of.

"We should watch this," she suggested. "It's called..." She wiped the dust off of the cover. "Paranormal Activity."

The Doctor felt all the blood leave his face.

"nO—"
