As a little kid
My parents were divorced
My dad went away
And my mom just ignored
The well being
Of my sister and me
Suddenly
Daddy was home!
He
Took me
Left my sister, she was mommy's girl
We lived a decent life
Had some fun,
Though our family was done.
My daddy tried and tried and tried
And mommy just said NO
And all my wishes went to waste and my dad?
He no longer would go
To see my mom, to mend their ties
No more tries.
My mom crawled back and he refused
Though times were tough, he knew
He'd never go back to her.
So daddy's gone and I'm alone
And now I don't waste wishes
Isn't it sad?
When a kid gives up?
Mommy wanted money but daddy wanted me
And mommy got me
While daddy was in defeat
And now I'm back with dad?
I never want to leave
Though I'm so lonely
With no one close to hold
I'll stay strong for mommy and daddy and my sister who must be very bold
Isn't it sad? When a child cries?
No where to go? No one to confide?
I find it sad but I mean, maybe it wasn't
I find it sad but I really loved it
When my dad was home
And we had a great time
When I my sister came by
And we all never cried
When my cousins called "TIO" and the fun never stopped
When my abuela smiled
And my abuelo took me for walks
I swear I was happy
But when he was gone
It got very tough
And I couldn't move on
I'd wait and I'd wait
And I'd ask and I'd ask
Until I saw his truck pull in late
And I'd jump and I'd yell and I'd run to go greet him
And we'd spend all of our weekend
Having a blast
And then one late night
I wake and rub my eyes
To see him packing his stuff and to say his goodbyes
I would not cry, I had to be happy
It didn't last long, he had to go soon
But he will be back, by the next full moon
