𝐄𝐥𝐢 𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐫 hand gently over the spines of books shelved, baby blue eyes searching keenly for the title she was looking for, blonde hair swept up into a messy bun.
Maki’s leaning against a bookcase nearby, her purple eyes trained on the White Cloak leader, slender fingers wrapping around a lock of red habitually.
“Got it.”
Eli mumbles under her breath, removing a volume of White Cloak history from the shelf, and dusting away evidence of neglect.
Maki straightens, her arms unfolding as she makes her way to the desk Eli’s settling the book on. Umi’s already there, combing a hand through dark blue strands. Tsubasa has her lips pursed, arms crossed over her chest as her green eyes never leave the book.
Eli doesn’t bother asking where Rin and Karla were.
“Rin!”
And already, Eli hears the chaos outside, Karla’s voice being an indication of trouble, excluding the loud thumps and heavy footfalls against carpet.
“You two,” Maki begins, irritation chalking her voice as she makes a beeline for the door to the study. “Stop horsing around in the halls.”
She flings the door open to reveal Rin with her tousled coral hair and Karla still as poised as ever, a hand on the collar of Rin’s pyjamas.
“Sorry, Maki.” Karla says briskly, letting go of Rin, so that the younger girl could fall backwards onto the floor. “Rin just wouldn’t wake up in time for the meeting.”
