Prompt: Tattoo Soulmate AU
"Dean, I've been meaning to ask you; why do we always travel across the country? Why not stay in one general area? I mean, there are probably anomalies that happen and we're not able to stop them," Sam asked.
"Oh. Yeah, but what if one isn't happening in the area?" Dean replied, mouth full of a cheeseburger.
"I guess, but it takes a long time to drive over to another state," Sam reasoned. "Is there a real reason?"
"No," Dean lied, "C'mon, let's go. There's a haunting in Florence." Sam was about to speak, but he was instead met by a faceful of newspaper clippings.
He wasn't going to tell Sam the truth. No matter what. He'd glance over at his brother and see him wistfully stare at his wrist. There was a tattoo. Complete as it was, half of it was a seeping red. Sam rubbed his wrist. His soulmate was no longer of this world; and he had the tattoo to remind him.
"Soulmates are a funny thing," Castiel had told Dean. "When soulmates are united, the tattoos will both be completed. But if one of them dies, their half turns red. I don't know why father would force humans to endure that pain."
"Is it possible...not to find one?"
"No. If one dies before it's time, there are second chance soulmates. Don't worry, Dean, yours is out there."
"How do you know exactly?" Dean spoke aloud.
"Sorry, what was that?"
"Uh, nothing. I was just thinking of something."
"Ookay. Well, I'm gonna take a nap then."
"Sweet dreams, Sleeping Beauty," Dean smirked.
"Shut up."

"Mom, I have to go! You can't just hold me here for the rest of my life!"
"I know, love, but I just don't want to lose you! I bet he's here, right in this town!"
[Y/N] rolled their eyes. "I'm gonna take a shower then head to bed. Night, Mom."
"Just think about it, dear. Maybe you can go into town tomorrow."
"Yeah, maybe," they groaned, trudging up the stairs.
[Y/N] let the hot water glide down their body, staring longingly at their own tattoo. They loved, it, really, but it was just....empty. [Y/N] shut off the water and threw on some dark clothes.
"I think it's time for me to decide what to do with my love life," [Y/N] said, determination in their voice. [Y/N] tiptoed out of their room to listen to their mother's soft snores. After writing a quick goodbye, they packed a duffle with some essentials and clambered down the conveniently placed ladder.
"It's bad of you to just leave like that."
[Y/N] jumped. "Cas, you scared me! And I know that, but she's not going to let me go. It's because she lost Dad!"
"Yes, I'm well aware, but just think about how your actions will affect her," Cas reasoned.
"I...I can't. I can't be stuck here forever because she's stuck in the past! Now leave me alone. Please," [Y/N] rolled their eyes. "This is the right decision. I'm sure of it."
"Maybe try Florence?" he pondered aloud, disappearing without a trace.
And with that, [Y/N] walked away from their childhood home.

"C'mon, Sam, maybe they're having a free breakfast buffet across the street."
"You go on ahead. I'm gonna do some more research."
"Suit yourself then," Dean grabbed his wallet and walked over to the small cafe. "Whoa! It's packed in here. Wait, there's a table."
"Buddy, I got here first."
Dean looked up. Someone had their hand right on the opposite chair. "C'mon babe, I'm pretty sure I got here first."
"Haha. No. Get out."
"How about we both sit at the table and just pretend the other isn't here?" Dean suggested.
"I suppose that will do," they said, sitting down with their tray of food. Dean went to get his own and sat across them.
"So, sweetheart, what's your name?" Dean asked with a mouthful of food.
"First of all, gross, and secound, I thought we were ignoring each other," They chided back.
"I'll start. My name's Dean."
"[Y/N]. Now leave me alone please."
"Fine," Dean grumbled. [Y/N] looked down at their leg. Something colourful was poking through their shorts. [Y/N] gulped, slightly pulling the fabric up.
Their tattoo was completed.
[Y/N] sprung up, screaming bloody murder, all the while knocking the chair over.
"What the hell?!" Dean shouted. [Y/N]'s eyes widened and grabbed his arm, dragging him out of the building. "Wow, if you wanted me this bad, you could have just said so."
"Shut up, just...look at your...tattoo," [Y/n] glanced down, seeing a black blob peeking through the rips in his jeans.
"Uh...okay. Wait...you don't think..?"
"I do. I went on a quest to find my soulmate. And it wasn't completed until I noticed at the table."
"Holy crap. Mine's completed too. I can't believe this."
"I'm sorry I yelled at you earlier," [Y/N] blushed. Dean nodded."I guess I have to give thanks for the tip Cas gave," [Y/N] and Dean said simultaneously.
"You said! The Same thing!" again. [Y/N] backed away. "Uhhh."
Dean smirked, "Well, [Y/N], would you do me the honor of going on a date with me?"
"I just did this morning!!" [Y/N] laughed.
((Cas watching his two friends behind a tree quietly.))
