The Worst Christmas Eve

Bethany's POV

What's on your mind first when you hear 'Christmas Eve'? You might think about the traditions on Christmas Eve, right? I can't wait to celebrate this night, everyone is preparing this perfectly. There are so many presents under the Christmas tree and they are so colorful.

Tonight, I'm gonna spend this Christmas Eve with my family. We will make hot cocoa, watch Christmas movies, and have a family dinner. My favorite part is having a family dinner, we can share our stories while eating food. The candles that are on the table will shine on us and complete this Christmas Eve.

Honestly, I want to meet the girls today, like a little hang out, but they're all spending them with their families. I can accept it, I miss spending my time with my family too. My dad has changed now, I mean he's doing great. He already apologized to me a hundred times and I forgave him. Christmas teaches me to forgive people, even if it's kinda hard, but that's the greatest way.

Lily and I sit on the couch and talk about many things. I'm so close with Lily, she's my little sister and my best friend. Lily trusts me about everything, she told me about her first crush, her bad teacher, her new classmate, and still, there's a lot of things. Now she gives me her phone and asks me to choose some pictures of her to post on Instagram. Seriously, she never posted one of them before I choose them, she said that my choice is the best, that sounds silly to me, though.

The sky is getting dark, the weather is getting cold too. It's a time for us to have a family dinner, it's not just a family dinner but it's a Christmas Eve family dinner! Mom, Lily, and I made the foods this morning and we will serve them this night and I'm sure these foods are truly delicious.

We're all sitting at the dining table, there are lots of food and drinks on the table. They are roast chicken, pasta, steak, pizza, lasagna, pie, some cookies, and two bottles of martini. I doubt we can eat them all cause they're too much.

Dad was staring at the food and said to us "Let's pray together, "

The four of us are holding each other's hands and dad's starting to lead the prayer. When dad leads the prayer, even if it's only a few seconds, it's so meaningful. I can feel how warm my body is now, the beautiful fireplace makes me warm.

We eat the food and talk about many things. Suddenly, my mom stands up and plays some Christmas songs from her phone so we can hear them while eating. Lily enjoys the food so much, she says that this food is so yummy and she can't stop eating it.

It's 8:30 PM now and we've finished our food and drink, I asked my mom if I could go upstairs to my room after I help her clean the dishes and she said yes. I clean the dishes as fast as possible, I really want to go to my room so bad. Actually, we were about to open our Christmas presents but I'm kind of tired and we will open them tomorrow.

Finally, I've finished the dishes and I ran upstairs and locked my door. I always lock it cause I don't want anyone to come to my room suddenly even though they're my family. I know my mom would get mad at me ugly she knows I locked my door, but I think I can explain it to her.

I lay on the bed and check my phone, I got lots of messages and notifications from social media. I scroll down my Instagram timeline and my phone is suddenly ringing. It's a video call from Justice, does he really wanna see my face right now? Cause I seem a bit horrible. I pick up the video call from him and now we're seeing each other's faces.

Justice: Hello, Bethany! How are you?
Me: Hi, Justice! I'm great, thank you. And you?
Justice: I'm good, thanks. By the way, it's Christmas Eve and you look so beautiful right now
Me: Seriously? Thank you. I just had a family dinner, my little sister and I ate a lot.
Justice: It's okay, you will not get fat.
Bethany: Sorry, but why you're calling me?
Justice: I just wanna make sure that you do not forget that I'm gonna come to your house tomorrow for Christmas.
Me: Oh, of course, I remember. You can eat all of the cookies and we can talk about everything.
Justice: Thank you. Okay, see you tomorrow, Beth. Good night!
Me: Bye, good night!
