*A/N: thanks so much for idea classic1985 , this was so much fun to write. Loki x reader, reader has a massive crush on Loki so she tries to do little things to show him that she likes him. Will they work? Read on to find out.

It was just another day at the Avengers compound and you were currently adding the finishing touches on the Christmas tree that you had set up and decorated, all by yourself as everyone else was busy with other things and didn't have the time, for the last hour. You only had one thing left to place onto the tree, and that was putting the star on the top. Unable to reach the top, you pull a chair up to the tree and step up onto it, reaching out with the star in your hand. Just as you're about to push the star down onto the top of the tree, you notice someone walk into the room. You look over just enough to see that it's your one and only crush, Loki. As you suddenly become flustered and nervous at his presence in the room, you begin to fumble the star and in an attempt to try catch it from falling onto the floor, end up slipping off of the chair and come close to making a crash landing on your face but Loki, noticing your struggle, rushes over to you and helps you regain your balance.

"Are you alright?" Loki asks you, as you straighten your posture from your half-bent down position.

"Yeah, I'm just so clumsy," you softly chuckle, trying to avoid making eye contact with him.

Loki gives you a small nod and then bends down to pick up the fallen star from the floor and studies it for a moment before placing it on top of the tree for you.

"Uh, thank you," you nervously say, grabbing your arm with your hand and rubbing small circles on it with your fingers.

"You're welcome," Loki responds looking deeply into your eyes, secretly wondering why you're acting the way you are around him every time he's around you.

"Oh, I have to get going, I promised Nat that I'd go with her to shop for Christmas gifts," you say to him snapping yourself out of his gaze, giving yourself a reason to excuse yourself, and then immediately rushing off out of the room.

'Does she really hate me that much? What did I ever do to make her dislike me?' Loki thinks to himself, not realizing that the truth is you're actually head-over-heels for him and you're just too nervous to properly tell him. He soon shrugs off your behaviour, and then pulls a book out of the shelf, taking a seat down at a window side chair, and then beginning to read his selection.

Meanwhile, you had gotten ready to go out to the mall, but not with Natasha like you had told Loki. You were instead, actually going alone to find something for Loki, hoping in that giving him a gift, he would finally get the hint that you like him. You make sure the coast is clear, before sneaking out of the compound and out to the mall, arriving there after a seemingly long bus ride. You look around at all of the different stores, trying to find the perfect gift to get Loki. After what seemed to be a hopeless venture, you finally find something that stands out to you, and after purchasing it, you make your way back to the compound. Once you arrive back, you make a beeline straight to your room, and wrap up the present you had got for Loki. You pick up the neatly wrapped gift, and then decide to go find Loki's whereabouts. You walk down the corridors of the compound in search of your godly crush, finally finding him in the lounge area where you had left him earlier, occupied with his book.

"Hi Loki," you calmly say, as you approach him with your hands behind your back, trying to hide the present from him, wanting to try to surprise him.

"(Y/N)," Loki cooly responds, as he licks his finger and flips the page over, his gaze fixed on the book.

You let out a soft sigh and then reveal the present to him, Loki glancing at it with a look of bemusement.

"I got you something, open it up," you explain with a small smile.
