A/N: This will be continued, but in the meantime please enjoy part one. You end up going to a winter ball held by Tony at the Avengers Tower and Loki sees you there, making it his mission to introduce himself. Things go incredibly well, until......well, you'll just have to read on to find out what happens. ♥ (though I'm certain that the title will give you a clue)

It was a wonderful mid-December day, and you were just going about your day, running a few errands; such as getting some last minute Christmas shopping done and the not so thrilling task of paying those pesky bills. As you made your way down the street, you noticed a small poster taped to a lamp post that had read something about a winter ball at Avengers Tower this weekend and anyone who wished to attend was invited, all they had to do was dress up in formal attire. That was fairly straightforward, and you ripped the poster off the post, shoving into your handbag before walking off. The thought of attending such an event was very intriguing, though you weren't a hundred percent certain if you were going to go yet or not; your mind wasn't quite made up yet and then there was also the fact that you nothing overly nice to wear either, you'd certainly have to go shopping.

After some time, you had finally made your way home and put your shopping down on the couch, getting it prepared to wrap up, and began to fold the paper carefully over each item; tying it all up with neat, little bows. The whole process was done absentmindedly, as you kept thinking about this winter ball and once you had put the presents away in your closet, you took the poster out of your bag, reading it over once again. You bit your lower lip gently, pondering the thought many times in your mind, debating endlessly on whether or not you should take a chance and go. It could certainly be fun and a whole experience for you, but on the other hand, could also be a bit intimidating for you, being around a pair of genius', highly trained assassins, a super soldier and a god, while you were just a normal human being. 'Oh what the heck, this is a once in a lifetime thing and I shouldn't let anything hold me back from going,' you told yourself, convincing yourself once and for all that you would go, starting to look for dress ideas online. There were so many beautiful gowns on the pages you searched, not sure which one to go with, though you had a few ideas and decided that the next day you would go to the shop to try some on, hopefully also making a purchase at the same time.

Days later, the big event had arrived and you had finished getting yourself ready, having just completed your party look by pinning up your hair and adding a small amount of makeup, opting for a more natural look. You called a cab to get there and after a short trip there, though it felt much longer than that, you had finally arrived at the tower, making your way inside. You had never felt so amazed in your life as you did at this moment, and glanced around the area the ball was being held in, taking in the fancy decor and listened to the soft sound of the music playing in the background. It was absolutely beautiful, almost too good to be real. A few faces in the crowds of people became recognizable as you looked around some more, noticing the Scarlet Witch, Bruce Banner, Natasha Romanoff and even the Winter Soldier. You were so busy being awestruck that you didn't yet noticed someone else gazing at you, a certain trickster god to be exact. Loki had spotted you in the crowd and thought you appeared to be unquestionably breathtaking in your shimmering emerald green ball gown, which the straps rested just barely on your shoulders and a golden charm bracelet to match it. He could feel his breath getting caught in his throat, trying to hard to swallow it down and took a sip of his champagne, quickly fixing his already perfect tie up before marching his way over to you.

"Green is my favourite colour," a soothing voice with a slight accent stated on one side of you, causing you to turn to see who it belonged to. Goodness gracious, this man that stood before you was so handsome, perhaps even too good-looking to be real. His long, wavy raven locks fell at his shoulders and his eyes gleamed with mischief, something that should've told you to stray far away from him, but you just couldn't; you were already addicted. The heat that was in your cheeks only intensified as a playful smirk grew on his features, taking notice of your violent blushing, and he soon offered his hand to you while peering deeply into your eyes. He certainly had you under his spell. "Would you like to dance with me my lady?" he practically purred, a soft smile on his face, waiting patiently for your answer. You managed to muster a smile back and nodded in response, taking his hand and allowed him to lead you onto the dance floor. Loki held you comfortably close, keeping a hand on the small of your back and the other with each of your fingers interlocked, while the two of you gazed into each other's eyes; for the most part anyway, some of the time was spent with you occasionally looking anywhere but, feeling a bit shy to be in his presence. The only sound between the two of you was the music that played, along with the gentle murmur of your heartbeats and shallowness of your breathing. "Am I truly that charming that I've rendered you speechless my dear?" Loki queried, arching a brow in curiosity and smirking as if he had read your mind, which of course he had done. "May I at least know your name, if you wish to just enjoy this moment?" You nodded and looked back up into his eyes, sure that you were redder than a ruby at this point. "It's (Y/N)," you answered, your tone soft yet audible. Loki's heart skipped a beat upon hearing your voice, swearing that it was the most angelic thing he had ever heard. "A lovely name for a lovely woman," he charmingly smiled, pausing the dance to place a kiss to the back of your hand, making you blush even more.

In an attempt to avoid feeling too embarrassed by your demeanor, you turned your head to the side and caught a glimpse of the clock that hung high on the wall, your eyes widening as you saw the time. "I'm so sorry, but I need to go, it was nice to dance with you," you abruptly excused yourself, breaking away from his gentle hold on you and immediately raced out of the tower, with one of your shoes slipping off your foot. You were so panicked that you didn't notice, continuing to catch the nearest taxi that would take you back home. Loki had found it on the floor while he was chasing after you, wanting to know why you had to go so suddenly, and picked it up, hoping that he would someday have the chance to return it to you as he stared down at the black lacy flat.
