CHAPTER SIX.
↳ Frat Party.

One Week Later:
Ava skims through her closet, trying to find something decent to wear for tonight. Standing on her tiptoes to reach her favorite shoes that were on the top shelf, she notices a hand already grabbing them. She turns around to see Stephen smiling and handing her the shoes.
"Curse my shortness." Ava jokes, walking over to the bed, setting the shoes down. "It's cute." Stephen simply answers, laying down on the bed, watching his girlfriend get ready for his house's party.
"Should I wear something casual or slightly fancy?" she asks, looking at several crop tops. "You'd look good in anything babe." he said, staring down at his phone, scrolling through Instagram.
Rolling her eyes, she kept looking through the messy closet.
"Oh, by the way, you know your neighbor?" Stephen asks, making the girl freeze. Of course she never told him about Ryan.
"Um, yeah. Why?" she coughs, turning around. "Well I was hanging out with him, his name was Ryan Yerrow. He's pretty cool, he's coming to the party tonight with his roommate." he answers not looking up from his phone.
Ryan was going to the party, and that scared Ava. The whole week she knew that he lived across the hall, she tried to ignore him at all costs. She even figured out his schedule for the gym, so she wouldn't be there when he was there. Sure, it was a bit extreme, but she needed to get him out of her head.
So the fact that they were going to be in the same room, and Ryan talking to her boyfriend, well, it sounded like a bad idea. Stephen doesn't even know about the two dating, which makes it even more worse.
"Oh, um. Cool." she nods, turning back around. Taking a deep breath, she just takes a pair of skinny jeans and a maroon crop top.

Arriving to the party, she looks up to the many lights and music booming from the frat house. Ava gets out of the car, and links arms with Stephen.
Ava was always nervous when it came to his parties. She never knew what she would expect from the college boys. So she always stayed very close to Stephen.
As they walk up the door, already getting greetings from drunk college students, the music got louder and the crowd grew bigger. Looking around the room, watching people dance and do shots, Stephen talks in her ear.
"I'm going to find a drink. Be right back, I promise." he smiles, kissing the top of her hand and letting go. She nods and watches him walk away to the kitchen. She leans against a door frame, doing more people watching. Ava always thought of it as entertainment, especially at parties.
Ava suddenly gets bored, and goes on her phone. Tapping through people's stories, she feels a tap on her shoulder. Ava was grateful that Stephen was back, but when she turned around, it was not her boyfriend. It was Jake, his roommate.
"Hey, girl." he smiles, making her smile as well. "Hi Jake." she greets, leaning against the wall again. "Where's my boy Stephen?" he asks, his breath reeking of alcohol.
"Went to get me a drink." Ava answers, tucking her hair behind her ear. Jake slowly starts to bite his bottom lip, making Ava slightly uncomfortable.
"Hey, the boys and I got this new TV upstairs, want to check it out?" he asks looking the girl up and down. Ava, getting the hint that he didn't just want to show the TV, she steps back.
"That's okay, Jake. I'm just going to wait for Stephen." she nods. Jake grabs her hand roughly, making her jump. "Come on Ava. It'll be quick." he smiles, his other hand slowly traveling up her thigh.
"Jake, I said no." she said trying to get out of his grasp.
"Hey, she said no." she hears a voice behind her. She cringes, noticing the voice. Jake lets go and Ava turns around to see Ryan with Yerrow behind him.
"And who do you think you are?" Jake asks, narrowing his eyes. Ryan simply answers. "Her friends, now go find another girl, preferably, one that's single."
Jake just rolls his eyes, and walks away. Ava just crosses her arms.
"I was fine." she says over the loud music. "Yeah, I could tell while he basically pulled you away. Did you know who that was?" he asks.
"One of Stephen's roommates. He was drunk. Don't tell Stephen, this house doesn't need more drama." Ava states, watching Stephen coming back with two cups. He hands her a cup, and notices the two Ryans.
"You guys made it." he smiles, wrapping his arm around my waist. Ryan looks down at his hand and back at him.
"Yeah, couldn't miss it." he smiles back, putting his hands into his jacket.
"What's up Yerrow?" Stephen asks, and they do a handshake. I guess they were the best of friends now. "Nothing much." he answers.
"What did Jake want?" he asks, looking over at the boy who was staring Ryan down. Ava instantly looks at Ryan, hoping he would keep his mouth shut like she asked. He was about to speak, but stopped.
"Asked where you were." Ava answers for him, and Stephen nods.
"Well, shall we get this party started?" Stephen asks.

"You should of told him." Ryan says, as the two walk down the hallway to their apartments. Yerrow was ahead of them, leaving the two alone. Stephen was to drunk to drive the girl home, so she hitched a ride of the two boys, making it extremely awkward.
"What would be the point? He would get mad at him and punch him? Start a fight and ruin the whole night? No thanks." Ava sighs, looking down at the ground.
"It was still wrong." Ryan puts his hands in his pocket. They get to their doors, Yerrow already inside.
"I don't need your protection, Ryan. I was fine. Stephen was going to come anyway." Ava says, the two standing across from each other.
"Yeah, but it's what a friend would do. Goodnight Ava." he sadly looks at her while opening the door. He walks in and shuts the door, leaving the girl just standing there.
