BREAKEVEN | CHAPTER 10
CHAPTER TEN.
↳ I LOVE YOU.
Ryan couldn't believe he was hearing this. They broke up. And for the first time, he wasn't happy to hear that.
"Ava, I'm sorry." he whispered, looking down at the ground.
"And you should be. If you didn't go to my apartment that night-"
Then Yerrow stepped in.
"Wait, you went to her apartment?" he asked sitting next to Ava on the couch. "Why didn't I know about this?"
"Cause I kissed her." Ryan said looking into Ava's eyes, which was filled with fire. Ryan understood her hatred for him after what he did. If he didn't go to her apartment that night, the kiss wouldn't have happened as well as Stephen and Ava breaking up.
Yerrow just looked at the two, and then put his head into his hands.
"Now get out Ryan." Ava says through clenched teeth, while beginning to lay back down on he couch. Ryan then stood up and walked to the door. Looking back, he could see Ava close her eyes with more tears falling down her cheeks.
He then looks at Yerrow.
"Take care of her." he mouthed to him, which he nodded and began to rub her back. Ryan opened the door and didn't look back.
After he left, Yerrow sighed and got on his knees to face Ava. He moves her hair out of her face, and she sniffles softly.
"You're probably the only one I don't despise at this moment." she whispered to Yerrow, making him laugh lightly.
"I'll take that as a compliment. Now, as a friend, I'm going to help you. Okay? You're going to take a shower, brush your teeth, and we're going out. While you are doing that, I'm going to attempt to clean this apartment. Got it?" he said, making her look up at him and nod.
"Good, come on."
He helped her up and pushed her softly to the bathroom. She closes the door, and Yerrow turned around to scan her apartment. This was going to take a while.

"Thanks for taking me out to lunch, Yerrow." Ava said biting in her burger. "I really needed it."
"You're welcome. Now, I think it's finally time that we talk about what happened with Ryan."
Ava scrunches her eyebrows, looking down at her plate, picking at the food on it.
"Not much. He kissed me, I kissed back. Then I told him to go home because I felt guilty."
Yerrow smiled back at her.
"What?" she asked, confused by the face he was making.
"You kissed back. Does that mean you still like him?" he asked.
"Of course not." she scoffed, picking up a fry off her plate.
As much as Ava didn't want to admit it, she did have feelings for Ryan. And as much as she wanted to say something, she couldn't. Sure she was happy with him, but she was also happy with Stephen.
"It was in the moment, and I didn't know what I was doing. All I know is, I was jealous about his new girlfriend, and when he kissed me, I wasn't thinking about Stephen. But I pushed him away after I knew it was wrong. Cause it was." Ava says.
Yerrow nods and continues to eat his salad. Then, the two hear laughing behind them.
Ava turns around to see Stephen's friends, sitting there staring at her and laughing.
"Ignore them, Ava." Yerrow whispers, which she does whipping herself back around to face Yerrow.
"They're apart of Stephen's fraternity. I know all of them." she whispered back. Then, two people came up to the table. Ava looks up to see Chad and Tyler.
"Stephen told us about what happened. With that Ryan guy. But from the pictures, this isn't him. Are you on another date?" Chad asks, snickering.
"Go away." Ava says to them.
"Always knew you were a hoe, I was just waiting for the day for you to cheat on Stephen." Tyler said.
Then, Yerrow stands up, making the chair fall to the ground.
"She said go away. Also, do not call her that." Yerrow says standing face to face with Tyler.
"Listen, I'm just stating facts." Tyler smirked.
"They're not worth it Yerrow." Ava sighs, standing up and grabbing Yerrow's hand to pull him away from them.
As they walk away, Chad just had to say something else.
"There goes the little hoe with her new boyfriend. Can't wait to tell Stephen this."
Yerrow had enough. Turning around, he punched Chad right in the jaw making him fall to the ground. The other boys looked and instantly got up to check to see if he was okay.
"I said don't call her that." Yerrow said, shaking his hand slightly from the punch and walking out with Ava right behind him.

"You didn't have to do that you know." Ava sighed putting a bag of frozen peas on Yerrow's knuckles.
"You didn't deserve to be called that." he nodded, holding the peas down.
"But it's true."
Yerrow instantly looked at the girl that was sitting in defeat on her couch looking at the wall.
"Ava-"
"No. I cheated on Stephen. It was wrong. I shouldn't have done it. I deserve it."
Yerrow stands up and sits next to Ava.
"No one deserves to be called that. Even if you kissed Ryan back, you wouldn't have done it if you didn't feel the same way." he said making her look up at him.
She realized that he was right, but oh how she wanted him to be wrong. Maybe she really did miss Ryan? But he was also talking to Sam, which also made her angry when she saw them together.
And that's when she realized that he was really right. She did love Ryan. And she needed to go talk to him. Right now.
"You're right. Oh my god, Yerrow. You're right." she smiles, giving him the biggest hug.
"I am?" he asks confused, but then reassures himself. "That's right, I am."
Ava just laughs, and heads for the door. She opens it, and to her surprise, there stood Ryan.
"Hey, I heard what happened at lunch with Yerrow. I just want to apologize that I made them say that-" but before he could finish, Ava already had her lips on his.
Taken aback, his eyes were wide open and looking at Yerrow. Yerrow just smiles shrugging his shoulders. He slowly shuts his eyes, kissing the girl back right in front of his best friend who was indeed, very happy to see the two together.
She pulls apart, and looks him up in the eyes.
That's when Ryan knew that this was the perfect time to say it.
"I love you."
