I think you're way hotter than your sister.
I smirked and curled up further into my bed. Xavier thought I was hot? He was only the cutest boy in our grade. I'd been texting with him non-stop since I'd gotten done at gymnastics. Eva still had two days until she got her phone back.
What are you wearing?
My jammies :-)
Pic?
I smiled and got out of bed, going over to my full-length mirror. I tossed my hair around a little and posed until I thought I looked the best. I snapped a shot of me with my sleep shorts and fitted t-shirt, then sent it.
Sexy. Can I see u?
I felt my heart flutter a little. We texted back and forth and agreed to meet on my roof. I felt a thrill. This wasn't like me at all. I was always a perfect child, getting my homework done on time and always being polite. I had never snuck out before and I liked the threat of possibly getting caught.
I slipped on some Toms and a gray cardigan, then quietly tiptoed out of my bedroom with my key. As silently as I could, I slipped out the door and made my way up to the roof. Xavier was waiting for me. We sat on a couple of the chairs and started chatting. I was probably more giggly than usual.
Soon, the talking turned into kissing. I'd kissed one boy before, but not like this. I felt his tongue at my lips, and from watching movies and TV, I knew I was supposed to do the same. I wasn't sure what I was doing, so I just tried to copy what he was doing. He seemed to like it. His hand wandered to my waist, then to my bottom. I giggled in nervousness, then pulled away.
"We should stop," I told him, not wanting to go too far. Not that I was going to do anything too crazy, but I didn't want him to get the wrong idea. I wonder how far Eva had gone with him. Was it gross that I was kissing him now too?
"Tomorrow night?" he asked, brushing some hair away from my face. I nodded and we kissed one last time. We held hands as he walked me down the stairs to my apartment. We shared one last kiss before I went inside.
When I walked in, Carmen was sitting on the couch, half asleep, breastfeeding Paco. She heard me come in and looked in my direction.
"Mia? What are you doing out?" she asked.
"Ummm...." I tried to think of a good lie. "I needed to take a walk."
She eyed me, obviously not believing me. "Mia, that's not safe this time of night. What were you really doing?"
I smirked and bit my lip. Carmen was kind of like a big sister and I felt like I could trust her. I walked around the couch and sat next to her.
"I met a boy up on the roof," I reported, grinning.
"Seriously?" she looked surprised. I nodded, tucking my hands between my legs. "Mia...I'm not sure that's such a good idea."
I thought she'd be impressed and proud of me. "Why not? He likes me."
"Mia, you're only thirteen."
"I'll be fourteen in a month," I pointed out. She let out a sound like I had so much to learn. I was used to this from adults, but not Carmen.
"And what did you do up there?" she asked, looking at me with a concerned expression.
"We made out a little," I said.
"Mia, I don't want you doing that again," she told me outright.
"Why not?" I asked, annoyed.
"You're too young," she said. "You'll have plenty of time for that down the road. But sneaking out late at night to meet a boy on the roof? Mia, your dad trusts you. Don't throw that away."
