"Me"

Those words replay in my mind like a broken record, sending tingles all over my body. I turn the shower to the cold setting and let the water run over me, trying to shake off the arousal within. As I finish my shower, I step out and get dressed in my usual outfit then have an omelette in the kitchen. Grabbing my keys off the hook, I get into my car and drive straight to work. I know Gabriel won't be there so I don't even bother getting coffee.

Hmm maybe I'm starting to go to the coffee shop less for coffee and more for Gabriel.

Walking into the building, I immediately notice my desk is covered with mail so I get started opening and distributing the mail to the other staff members. Finishing up the last mail order, I make copies of the new uniform policy that has been implemented by the school then drop a stack off to each teacher. As I walk back to my desk, new students ask me where their classrooms are so I stop to help them then finally sit down at my desk. As soon as I'm comfortable a student walks into my office.

"Ms. Campbell, I need to see the nurse. I cut myself in shop class" He tells me, holding up a bloody finger which makes me think of Gabriel.

"You can head there now" I tell him as I press the intercom button, letting the nurse know.

I start to wonder how Gabriel is doing but I decide not to text him because I don't want him to think I care about him. We're basically just business partners. Searching up Tyrone's file, I find Kayla's number then type it into my cell phone and send her a text message.

"Hey Kayla, it's Aaliyah. I pulled up your number from Tyrone's file and I was wondering if you'd like to catch up over lunch @ 12."

Kayla: "Hey Girl, of course I would! I'm really craving Mexican food. Know any good places?"

"Of course, meet me at Jose's Mesa. 315 Haven Lane, between Val's grocery store and the huge car lot"

Kayla: "Great! See you then"

A wide smile appears on my face as I hurriedly update the school's website. It'll be 12 soon and I can't wait to catch up with Kayla. I'm so ready to hear all about her life after she moved. The entire time I'm working I keep my eyes on the clock and once it strikes 12, I clock out and sprint to my car then drive to Jose's Mesa. Entering the restaurant, I find us a table then text Kayla to let her know I'm here and where I'm sitting. Eventually, I see a pregnant belly followed by Kayla's face as she sits down, holding her back.

"I'm sorry, it took so long Aaliyah! Everything is a struggle while you're pregnant" Kayla smiles.

"I bet it is"

The waiter walks over to take our orders and we continue talking when he leaves.

"Kayla, How far along are you?"

"6 months...So, what's been going on? Spill the tea!!" She laughs.

"Well since I graduated college, I started working at Pine Grove High School but hopefully I find a better job in my field. My degree is in education but I wanted to see if I could handle being around kids before I actually started teaching. I have my own place but my boyfriend is usually there. You remember Sean right? Well we started dating a little while after you moved and have been together for seven years now."
