Jason's pov
*a few weeks later*
I'm not doing so well in potions class. That damn professor is just so intimidating. He's always breathing down my neck and watching my every move. I don't understand him. I get back to the common room. Hermione was writing something. "Just the girl I was looking for." I say, making her jump. "Sorry." I say, walking over. "What'd you want me for?" "I was hoping you could help me. I suck at potions. And you're super smart." "Sure. I'll help you. If you can get Ron to leave me alone. He keeps calling me a know it all." I am a little surprised. I thought Ron was nice to everyone. "I'll talk to him. But between you and me I think he has a crush on you." She blushes. "That's crazy."
*a few hours later*
I was shaken awake by none other than Ron. "What time is it?" I mumble, rubbing my eye. "There's someone at the common room door asking for you." My eyes go wide. Miranda. I race to the door. "Hey! Great to see you." I say hugging her. "Hey. Sorry its so late. I just couldn't sleep. I miss us hanging out everyday." "You and me both." She glances at Ron just as Hermione wakes up. "Hey wanna go exploring?" She whispers. I laugh softly. "Now who's being a troublemaker?" "You actually aren't supposed to be out of your common room after dark. It's against the rules." Hermione says before yawning. "Well you are a gryffindor, aren't you? They're always up for adventure." She challenges Hermione, smirking. The redhead has a fire in her eyes. "Oh fine. I'll join you. But only because I have a feeling you're going to get yourselves into a sticky situation." "Me? Psshhh!" My best friend jokes. Ron snickers and Hermione hits him in the back of the head. "Come on. We don't have all night!" Miranda said. "Its amazing she wasn't in gryffindor and Hermione wasn't in Ravenclaw." Ron whispers to me as the girls walk ahead of us. "Hermione doesn't want you to call her a know it all anymore. It's ticking her off." He rolls his eyes. "She is a know it all." "Is it true that redheads have a temper?" I ask, looking at the girls. He laughs. "I'd say so. You should see my mom after one of my brothers did something they weren't supposed to do with magic." Man I hope we don't get caught. I don't want to get in trouble here. The girls stopped at a door. "What's in there?" I ask. "Dunno. It's locked." Hermione pulls out her wand. "Alohmorra." She says. The lock comes off. I really need to pay better attention in charms class. I coulda sworn that did something else. The door opens and it's really dark. "You go first." Ron nervously says, pushing Miranda forward. She glares at him. "And you call yourself a gryffindor." She mutters sassily, making me laugh. "She's got ya there pal." "Lumos." She whispers, filling the room with light. But we still can't tell what's in there. Miranda was about to walk in but Hermione grabbed her shoulder. "Wait. There's a disguise charm on this room. That's why the light doesn't reveal anything. There's no telling what's in there." She smirks. "What? Scared of a little mystery? I want to know what's in here." She walks through the door but falls straight down! I scream her name, terrified and run to the open doorway. It's too dark. "Are you okay?! I can't see anything!" I gasp, straining to see her."I'm stuck. Something is wrapping itself around me!" She shouts. "I can't pull free!" She sounds scared. I shakily back up. "What do we do?!" Ron shouts freaked out. "I'm coming!" I shout, blocking out my fears and running through the open door. "No! Wait!" I land on vine like stuff! It quickly wraps around my arms and legs. "Miranda!" She uses the Lumos charm again. "We're stuck!" "I can't pull free either." "That looks like devils snare!" Hermione shouts. "It's alive. It will digest you!" Oh crap. "What do we do?!" I shout terrified. "I'll go get help!" Ron says, running back down the corridor. "You have to stop resisting." What?! "Are you crazy?! Let it eat us?!" "No! It'll think you're dead and you'll fall straight down!" But to where? "We've got to. She knows what she's talking about." I say scared out of my mind. "Jason, I'm scared." She whimpers, starting to cry. I am too but I pretend I'm not. "We're going to be okay." I say, my voice shaking slightly with fear. Stop resisting. I relax my body and slowly fall through the devils snare. I land on solid ground in a dark room. I hear Miranda terrifiedly screaming my name. "I'm alright! Just relax!" A few seconds later, she drops down and I catch her. "J-Jason where are we?" There's a trapdoor and a staircase. We don't need to go deeper. I point to the stairs. "No more exploring tonight." I say. We walk up them and when we open the door, we come face to face with Mrs. McGonagall, the transfiguration teacher/headmistress. "Uh oh. We're boned." I mutter worried. "My office this instant." We follow her to the office where Ron, Hermione, and Headmaster Dumbledore was. Oh man we're in serious trouble. "What were you thinking?! You could have been killed!!" Mrs. McGonagall shouts angrily. "That corridor is forbidden." Dumbledore says, standing up. Ron and Hermione look really worried. "I should expel the four of you right here and now." McGonagall says still pretty pissed. "But." Dumbledore interrupts. "We will give you a warning. One more breaking of the forbidden rules and you will be expelled. Do I make myself clear?" "Yes sir." I shakily say relieved. I thought we were gonna get the boot. Thank goodness. "I'm taking 15 points from gryffindor and five from Ravenclaw as punishment." We head back to our common rooms. I say goodbye to Miranda. "Ya wanna keep exploring?" Ron asks shocking me. I shake my head. "I've had enough near death experiences for one night. Not to mention if we break the rules again, we'll get expelled." Hermione opened the common room door. "What about you?" He asks. She shakes her head. "If you'll excuse me, I'm going to bed before either of you come up with another clever way to get us killed or worse expelled!" Then she slams the common room door in our faces. Uh oh. "Do you remember the password?" I ask. He shakes his head. Drat. "Why is she more afraid of being expelled than dying?!" Ron gapes shocked. "She needs to straighten her priorities." I laugh and shake my head. "How do we get in without the password?" He shrugs. "Beats me. I'm going exploring some more." He says, walking off. I shrug and follow him. What? I've got nothing better to do. Plus I'm a daring troublemaking gryffindor!
Wow this was a long chapter!!
