A couple days had past and the school work was piling up, and when I say piling up, I mean PILING up. That's when the differences between boarding and home really became noticeable. If I were at home all this work would have been done with the click of my fingers, and a cheque written out to the tutor.

Sitting in my dorm room next to a very loud Aimmée, who sounded like she was genuinely have phone sex with her boyfriend, or one her fuck buddies, her sideman, her guy on the side...

Or it could be her boyfriend. Ugh, Hunter. I still hadn't spoken to him since the first day of school and I intended to keep it that way. That's a lie- I would do anything to talk to him again, but the thought of being a 'home wrecker' was sickening.

"I'm dripping," Aimmée said licking her lips, "why don't you come and clean me up?"

"Well bye guys! I'm leaving now, hope you're having fun."  I rushed out of the dorm, feeling as though I ought to go to confession and be cleansed with holy water. I continued down the flight of stairs, trying, but ultimately failing, to get Aimmée and her boyfriend's cringe worthy words out of my poor, virgin ears. Walking at a steady pace, I wondered what I could do, make some more friends? Where would I find people nice enough that I could bother to socialise with?

"Circe! Circe! Come over here!" Spinning, I turned to the strange ginger calling out my name. Ruby! She was talking on the phone so I waited for her to finish her call before running.

"Ruby! Help me!" I cried, running towards the only friend I've made despite being here for a full week. I'm so pathetic.

"What's wrong?" She said, cradling my face as if we were characters of a Shakespearean play. Deciding to play along with my act of a damsel in distress, I fell and she caught me in her arms.

"I mustn't tell ye, it would break thy heart!" Clutching her arm, I began to 'weep'.

"Fair maiden, why art thou distressed?" Called out Ruby (aka my knight in shining armour).

I stood up completely devoid of emotion, "Here there is no why."

"Shut up you nerd," Ruby laughed, "Anyway, I know what might cheer you up," I looked up at her, questioning, "Max has ordered some pizza and booked the movie theatre, let's go!" Taking me by the hand, Ruby began to drag me over to the cinema room. Max? Confusion must have been written on my face because then Ruby clarified by saying, "Oh Max is my twin brother by the way, I've mentioned him before, right? He's the reason I know all the lacrosse boys I was with the other day."

"Oh no you're right, you have, he wasn't there though when we sat with them." Ruby nodded as I rushed to match her pace. Suddenly a thought flittered into my head,

"Wait, you're siblings right?" Ruby turned, looking at me like I was stupid— I'm not stupid.

"Can you comprehend basic Engl-"

"#Max and Ruby, do do do, Ruby and Max#" About to die, I stood there clutching my stomach. "Omg," I straightened and took a breath in, "I'm such a joker."

"Ha ha ha," said Ruby, not looking very impressed with my spectacular vocal talent, "You're funny," she rolled her eyes sarcastically.

"I know." I stated, before continuing on with her.

We walked into the hallway leading to the cinema room, the lights were dim and the walls were covered in posters, mimicking an old school theatre. Velvet ropes, complete with gold furnishes and all. The red carpet was old but vibrant, creating a warm look that matched the decor all around.
