Cedric wandered, what seemed like, half of Hogwarts grounds looking for his girlfriend. She wasn't out in the courtyards with her friends, and she wasn't eating breakfast in the Great Hall as they suggested. He wandered all the way up to the Ravenclaw towers hoping he might catch her on the way out, but he had no luck. It was only when he made it to the owlery when he came to the realization of where she was.

(Y/N) spent most of her time in the library. It was where she did her classwork, where she studied, and often where she'd go if she just wanted time to herself. Cedric thought it was silly to forget for even a second.

Upon his arrival at the library, he went straight to the back. (Y/N) always sat in the same table tucked away in a corner. She liked the seclusion; it was easier to get her work done that way, she said.

Cedric found her bent over a piece of parchment, scribbling intently. He hated to interrupt her, but he didn't wander around for half an hour looking for her just to turn away. "Merry late Christmas,"

(Y/N) looked up at her work, for a moment, seeming quite upset. Then, she saw it was Cedric who stopped to say hello and smiled brightly. "Ced! Same to you,"

He walked closer to her and peeked at her parchment. "What are you writing, there?"

"Essay for Muggle studies," Her gaze dropped to the arms hiding behind his back. "What've you got?"

"Oh," Cedric smiled. "Nothing,"

"You got me a gift? I thought we agreed on no presents this year!"

"Well, we did, but I saw this and it reminded me of you. I had to!"

She smiled at the sentiment, but Cedric could tell she still felt guilty. He really didn't want anything for Christmas, that's why he agreed that they shouldn't get each other anything. But he felt inclined to give her something. They'd been dating for almost an entire year, and it was their first Christmas as a couple. He couldn't just let that pass by!

"Well, come on, then," (Y/N) urged, letting her curiosity get the best of her.

Cedric placed the box on the table, and (Y/N) had to look above it to give him the glare of the century. "What on earth is this?" She demanded.

"Open it," He grinned.

(Y/N) heaved a sigh. "Ced, I can't--"

"You don't even know what it is, yet!" He insisted.

He knew he could use her nosiness against her. She gave in to his wish and tore the paper away from the gift. When she'd got it halfway unwrapped, Cedric couldn't keep quiet anymore and began to speak.

"You always say you want to teach potions one day. I thought this would be a good beginning for the arsenal of a future Potions Master."

(Y/N) laughed, but Cedric couldn't tell if it was at what he said, or if she was in awe. He'd bought her an advanced potions kit that held even more ingredients than their kit for school. By the looks of it, she was thrilled, and Cedric smiled at her excitement.

"I've wanted one of these for months! Dad never let me get one because he's afraid what I might make my sister drink. Of course, I'd never make her drink anything she wasn't comfortable with." She reached for a vial containing powdered root of asphodel, her eyes shining with ideas of what she might brew. "Thank you, Cedric, I love it."

"Of course,"

"But, you didn't just happen upon this, did you?" She looked up at him, and Cedric's smile faded away. He felt his cheeks begin to heat up.

He should've known better than to try to sneak it past her.

"No," He admitted. "But I didn't go out of my way, either. Dad had to run into Diagon Alley during the break and I thought I'd go with him."

"So you could buy me this?"

"Well, this wasn't actually what I had in mind. I was going to get you more moonstone because you mentioned you ran out, but then I found the kit and I thought you might like that more."

(Y/N) waved her wand and her supplies she had scattered around the table put themselves back. The parchment she'd spread out around her during her studying stacked themselves into a neat pile and books she borrowed floated back to their shelves. "You should get your coat." She said.

"Why?" Asked Cedric, feeling himself smile.

"Well, I have to get you something, now, and I'm terrible at buying gifts. We'll just have to go to Hogsmeade so you can find something you want, and I'll buy it for you."

Cedric could always be very romantic if the situation presented itself. Like the time in their fourth year when (Y/N) brewed Amortentia just to see if she could, and Cedric said the scents reminded him of her. Or when she tried to study in the library and Cedric claimed to need help on that subject too, so he'd scoot his chair close and look on with her, even though the book was on a subject Cedric didn't take. It just so happened, (Y/N) managed to give him the proper setup without even trying.

"You don't have to buy me anything." He said, picking up (Y/N)'s kit as she grabbed her stack of parchment.

She smiled. "And why might that be?" By the looks of it, she could tell he was about to say something absolutely ridiculous.

"Because," He followed her through the library. "Spending a day with you is the best gift I could ever ask for."

Requested by Ludicrous-phenomenon I hope you enjoyed

I'm sorry I didn't publish this yesterday, but it was originally meant to be a Draco Malfoy oneshot and then i finished writing the whole thing and thought you know what, it'd be better with cedric, so I scrapped the whole thing and started over. Love that for me.

I've been held up by school, but now we're on x games mode
