X this is an extended prompt for Dahanci; she'll write the ending, while I will in turn write the ending to something she has written. Links will be provided!
This is Wonderland.
You're not supposed to get colds in Wonderland!
I've been in bed all day, curled into a ball in the upper right corner of the gigantic mattress. My shoulders and back started to ache a half an hour ago; after all the shivering I've done, I'm surprised my entire body isn't cramped.
If I tilt my head just-so, I can see my favorite constellation.
I'm struck by a loneliness that surprises me; Morpheus has been avoiding me all day. Not like it's a hard thing to do; I haven't moved except to use the bathroom, and he could be in any part of Wonderland doing Gossamer know's what. And it's not the fact that he's not by my side constantly, for any other day I would have gone about my own business without a second thought. It's just that he's gone because I'm sick, and I'm almost disappointed in him for it.
He can get swallowed whole by the Bandersnatch, cut his way out, and live to see another day...but he can't hand me a freaking tissue?
Soon to be surprised, I'm right about one thing. He can't just hand me a tissue.
After a soft knock on the door, Morpheus strides into our bedroom pushing a small cart of various fruits and something that looks like tea. He leaves the cart at the edge of the bed and kneels on the floor next to me; there's a soft smile on his face as he reaches forward to stroke my hair and tuck some of it behind my ear.
"Long day, little blossom?" He croons quietly and kisses my forehead, tilting his head and narrowing his eyes as if to ponder something. I love the variety of nicknames he has for me; some of them meant singularly for the times of reminiscence and innocent thoughts.
Which, of course, makes me feel horribly guilty for thinking so low of him.
"I thought you didn't want to be near me," I admit stuffily, though end up sniffing anyway.
"Silly of you," he sighs easily, a smirk grazing his lips.
He stands and walks back towards the cart; I prop myself up against the numerous pillows behind me and frown when I see there's a definite slice of fabric missing along his side that reveals a patch of toned torso and hip bone.
I frown at him, pulling my knees to my chest and sniffing again. "What happened to your shirt?" I ask, cringing at how awful my voice sounds.
Morpheus twists to find what I'm talking about and ends up scowling pleasantly, looking up at me to explain, "All of the fruits I've gathered for our night have different, harmless effects upon consumption. They're a bit more potent to sprites and full-blooded netherlings, though, so they can be hard to find."
I tilt my head curiously and bite my lip to prevent several nasally snorts of laughter. I'm delusional and tired; I'd like to blame that for what comes out of my mouth.
"So they're like drugs to you, but not me? Are you going to get high and do a strip tease?"
Morpheus glares at me darkly, twisting his hips while holding his lapels and biting his lower lip, somehow managing to make it comical. I'm laughing within moments, and he smiles in response.
"Alright, luv," he wanders over to the bed and sets a tray of the various fruits between eyes, sitting cross-legged in front of me.
"Which would you like to try first?"
