Chapt. 18 - American Magic

"So you're saying, there are other universes besides ours? And apparently you're 'versions' are trying to do something they call good. And you think you're journal is in danger?" New Jersey stated bluntly, munching on his pizza. He didn't know how to feel about this. He wanted to believe, but he was still hesitant. So he decided to be reasonable. "You know, maybe you're just overthinking." New Jersey reached over to grab a bagel. "Just calm down."

"Ugh, not you too!" I groaned. He was the 5th state I came for advice, and he didn't believe me too! "Did you really drive to another state just to tell me this?" New Jersey asked, an eyebrow raised. I nodded my head in defeat. "What about the meeting in Italy? I thought there were 3." New Jersey grabbed another bagel. I mumbled 'It was cancelled' before burying my face with a couch pillow.

"You, father, need respect. Anyways, push that aside! Tell me stuff from the meeting! Did they hurt you? I could always kick their faces if you want!" New Jersey asked, trying to lift the atmosphere after noticing his father's mood. "Actually Jersey, I think it's better if I leave now." I sighed, standing up from the couch and slung my bag on my shoulder.

His head snapped up at me in disbelief. New Jersey quickly grabbed my two legs. "You can't go now!! You just got here!!" He whined. I rolled my eyes and patted his head. "It's been 5 hours." I chuckled, memories of my child self doing the same when England was about to leave. Leave to unknown places.

"So what?! You better visit me more if you're really leaving now!!" He looked back up. He playfully punched my arm and chuckled. "Well then, goodbye." New Jersey whispers, a hint of sadness in his eyes. I nod and offered a hug. He immediately accepted. "Don't worry, I'll be back." I whisper. "Tch, you better be back." New Jersey mumbled.

I stepped out the door and walked towards my car. With one last wave at my state, I entered the vehicle and drove off.

Why does the first 5 states I visited think my situations are insane?! I'm perfectly stable, besides, the countries are in the same position as me. England, Romania, and Norway said they'll try and fix everything before we all left. Also, if I'm going to find help in searching my journal, I need to find a few states that actually believes me!

Who would believe all this madness? I mean, I could try visiting the other states in the Original Thirteen. Oh, and yes, readers. They have a group called the Original Thirteen, I'm sure the name explains it all. If you guys are going to be reading me suffer, get used to this 'fourth wall' thing breaking.

{IN NEW YORK}

"Alright, alright." I mumbled silently, looking up at the house numbers. I just need to find York's house and tell him my problem. That's it America, that's all you need to do.

I see the house, a suitable sized home, a few plants and bushes around the area, a white fence, blue roof, white walls, and an oak door. He chose a really nice place, better than the apartment he used to live in. I'm glad he made enough money.

I pulled into the driveway and exited the car. I hesitantly walked up to the door. With a bit too much nervousness necessary, I knock on the door. Shuffling my feet and fidgeting with my fingers a bit. It was quiet for 15 seconds until the door opened.

"Hello?"

It revealed a short, brown haired teen with piercing red eyes. He looked up and met my gaze, his eyes widening. "America?!" Almost on cue, he attacked my body with a big warm hug. I respond to the hug until he releases me with a big smile.

"Oh man it's been so long!! How have you been? How's the new boss treating you? Because oh boy he seems like a douche! What about the countries? They haven't been giving you problems right?!" New York gritted his teeth in anger at the thought of the countries hurting America. "Woah, chill York! You're not usually like this" I chuckled, "Anyways, I need to tell you something. And a little favour if you agree."
