I rapidly searched my mind for an idea. I couldn't just walk over and say, "Hi! I'm here to kidnap the youngest member of your gang, so please don't mind me while I drag him to my house and keep him forever." Just one look and they'd run me out of the territory. Then it hit me like a brick,

What if I wasn't me?

Maybe if I ask my girls, they'd make me over so I look different. Or even better. If they made me a guy.

No one would know.

A sly grin crawled onto my face, sprinting off to my territory.

I went straight to my best friends house, Alana. She had plenty of sisters, so we wouldn't need any more people. I swiftly opened the front door, greeting her mother and hopping up the stairs. I went to a familiar door and kicked it open,

"Sorella, I need you to help me with something." She looked up from her book,

"What is it?" I had a feeling she knew what it was,

"I need you to make me into a guy."

Her eyes widened drastically, which confirmed that she actually didn't know what I wanted.

"How come?"

I explained my situation to her, which made her calm down a bit.

"Oh, sure. I'll see what I can do." she sat me down on her bed and looked me over for a few minutes.

"Okay, first things first. Your voice needs to be lowered." I smirked,

"No problem." I said in a surprisingly convincing guy voice.

What can I say? Living with seven boys has it's advantages.

"Good, good. Now to fix your torso." She walked over to the first aid kit and pulled out some gause,

"It shouldn't be too difficult concidering you don't have much."

"Oh shut up will you?" I snapped, she laughed and pulled off my shirt.

"Now hold still." she wrapped the gauze around my chest until it was as flat as a board. I found it a bit difficult to breathe, but I could live with it.

"There, now for your hair." My hand shot up to my head,

"No. flipping. way." She sighed in irritation,

"You want the kid, don't you?"

"Yeah."

"You wanna hold him?"

"Sure."

"Love him?"

"Course."

"Suck-" I stopped her there, she laughed,

"Okay, okay. Sorry. Now, in order to get all those things, you have to everything I say." I nodded,

"Good. Now sit down and close your eyes. It'll be over before you know it." I sucked in a breath and nodded again. I sat down on the chair that was offered to me.

"Don't move~" she purred, throwing a cloth over me,

"Shut up and cut." and that she did.

All I've heard for the next couple minutes were snips of the scissors cutting long pieces of hair off my head. I was in hell.

After the endless sounds of cutting was over, she pulled the cloth off me,

"There ya go, see? It wasn't so bad."

I reluctantly opened my eyes and looked myself in the mirror.

Sweet mother of all llamas, I look like a dude!

I touch my hair, I couldn't believe it, and frankly, I was a bit offended.

"Perfect! Now all you need is man clothes."

She dragged me off to Tom -her boyfriend-'s house. She knocked on his door and held my arm with a tight grip so I wouldn't flee. Tom opened the door,

"Hey, Lana.." He eyed me, "who's the queer?"

"Watch your mouth, tommy before I watch it for you." He looked surprised to hear my voice,

"Dog? What the hell?" "We need to borrow your clothes." Alana told him,

"It's important."

He hned, leading us inside. Alana hurried upstairs for some clothes for me, I turn to Tom,

"Why such a harsh word?" I asked, "thought I was hitting on your girl?" He couldn't help but show a small wry grin,

"You could say that. Shut up and let me tell you something." He put an arm around me, "you make a pretty good looking guy."

Alana had returned with some clothes a little while after, ushering me to the bathroom. I spent a while looking at myself in the mirror, how is it possible that I look better as a male than a female? I shook my head and eventually left the bathroom.

I was startled to find Taylor there, her hair done up in a bun as usual. Her eyes lit up mischievously,

"Well, well, who do we have here?" She purred, slaughtering over to me, "where'd you pick up such a cutie like this one?" I stared at her weirdly, Tom couldn't help but start grinning,

"In a trash can." She grinned, "kinda like how we found Lion, huh?" Not everyone called me dog, at first I've been addressed as lion, then gradually been called dog as I became the leader of the Dogs. The only one who's ever called me by my real name was Ponyboy.

"You idiot." Alana muttered, "that IS Lion."

She looked at me, then spotted my Mickey Mouse necklace that I never took off for anything. She let go of me, "woah, Lion! Since when did you turn into a guy!?"

Tom came up from behind her and crossed his arms over his chest, "yeah, why is that?"

"I have a mission." I said, "from now on, I'll be gone for most of the day and be back at night." I look at Tom, "we have a rumble, don't be afraid of telling me."

"Oh boy." He muttered sarcastically, "I get to be the dogs personal messenger boy." He smiled at my blank look, ruffling my now short, shaggy hair,

"Don't worry, kid, I will." I smiled and looked myself over one more time,

Now, how to get into a greaser gang without making me seem suspicious..
