“Wow!” Lexi said as she got out of my car and gaped at the building.
I smiled at her expression when she saw where I was pulling up to. Timothy came around to my side and I handed him the keys.
“Good day, ma’am,” he smiled.
“See you in a few Timothy,” I said and I headed over to wear Lexi was standing, still staring at the place.
“How could I not know that my best friend and her family owns this building? I drive past here all the time and I never knew!” Lexi said, still in awe.
I laughed. “Come on, let’s go in before some sees you looking like an idiot.” I nudged her to follow me into the building. I smiled at the staff and those who greeted me. We made it to the elevators and I saw that Lexi was still taken aback at all this.
“Hey, relax. No one here bites,” I joked as we got in the lift.
“I’m just still surprised. I mean, I knew you were well off, but just didn’t know how well off you really were. Now I feel underdressed when I’m here. Everyone just looks so professional and smart,” she looked down at her jeans and shirt sheepishly.
“Lex, you look fine. I’m in the same attire as well,” I pointed out.
“But you’re the boss so it really doesn’t matter.”
“Lexi, don’t worry about it. You aren’t here to work so your dress code doesn’t matter. You are here as my guest and we are going to be fitting for our dresses. Now enough with this shock and whatever you are feeling,” I told her.
She smiled and nodded. The elevator finally opened up to my floor and I am instantly greeted my Jenny. She smiles and hands me some papers. She also smiles politely at Lexi, who also returns it. I introduce both of them to each other while we walk to my office.
As I walk in, I hear Lexi gasp. Here we go.
“OMG Kat! You have got to be kidding me! This is your office?!” she squealed. Jenny closed the door quickly, an amused look on her face.
I sat down at my desk as Lexi ran to the windows behind me to take in the view. Jenny sat down in front of me, trying not to laugh. I shared her look and turned to look at my best friend.
“Lexi, I’m pretty sure you’ve seen the city plenty of times. Now get away from my windows and stop putting smudges all over them,” I joked. Jenny now chuckled and I couldn’t help but laugh.
Lexi finally pulled herself away from the view and walked around, giving herself a tour. Jenny updated me about the designer saying that they’ll be here in an hour for a fitting. I also had to meet with the person organizing the charity function right after. Great, now I had to go change to some smart clothes. Jenny walked out to get my clothes and Lexi took her seat.
“You are so freaking cool. You have an awesome office with a great view, an assistant at your beck and call, and you’re just so important,” Lexi looked at me admiringly.
