So this is kind of a filler chapter. I'm building the plot up, and its getting there. Things are getting so much busier and it's hard to find time to write. But I will try.
After that relaxing afternoon with Dereck, reality seemed to take an entirely different course and take out the word 'relax' from its own dictionary. I've been hit with tests, college applications, work, and the freaking projects. There were days I went to school and days that I didn't and went to the office instead.
I haven't hung out with Lexi or Dereck for a couple weeks now, only seeing each other at school and keeping in touch through texting. Still as sweet as ever and concerned for my health, that dear boyfriend of mine always makes me a lunch bag, making sure I eat it. We have our little time in the library's study room so that we could always have our moments.
The whole deal with Xavier has been on the down low for a while. He hasn't shown his face, but I always have the feeling that I'm being watched by him. Knowing him, he's waiting for the perfect time to make another move.
I guess another reason why he hasn't done anything yet or even showed his face is because of my new bodyguards. Yep. I now have bodyguards, thanks to Aiden.
When I walked into my office one day after school, I was greeted by two large, bulky men seated in front of my desk. Just as I was about to ask who they were, Aiden comes walking in announcing that he had hired them to watch over me until Xavier is gone for good. Of course, an argument wasn't far behind from me saying that I didn't need extra protection and him going off on how it's too dangerous for me and I'm not taking it seriously.
Obviously it didn't end well. For days, he was moody and I was annoyed. Since I was stressed out with so many things, I gave in to him. I agreed with having bodyguards, but only when I was going out by myself. If I was at school, they had to keep their distance and when Aiden was with me, it was also fine. Just agreeing to the bodyguards shifted Aiden's mood to a better one.
These days, he's been around the office more and was more attentive to me. At first it was exasperating, but now, I've just gotten used to the fact that Aiden's going to be around more than usual.
Tomorrow is Halloween and fall is in the air. I skipped school today since I have a video conference call with my parents and some investors, three meetings, and the big project I'm working on for Giovanni World. Pulling up to MGE, I toss my keys to Timothy and make my way into the building. My two bodyguards, Bret and Mike, are waiting by the elevator. I nod at them and we enter the lift. On my floor, Jenny is ready with my papers and coffee by the time I exit. She reads me off today's schedule as we walk to my office. Bret and Mike stand their post outside my doors as Jenny and I walk in.
I plop down onto my chair and slouch back, kneading my temples. Only getting four hours of sleep can take a toll on you.
"You alright there Kat?" concern etched in Jenny's question.
I sigh and then sit up. "Yea, just fine. What time is the conference call with my parents and the investors again?"
"In an hour and right after, you have the end of the month meeting with the department heads."
I nod. I take out the papers I was working on last night and hand them to her. "Here, review and file these. Scan them then email them to the other branches."
Jenny takes the papers, but after she looks at them, she hands them back to me with a confused look. "Umm, Kat? This is your history paper."
"What?" Taking the papers back, I look at them and see that it is my paper. The paper that's due today. "Crap. Sorry."
