Internally, I groaned. He is that last person I wanted to see tonight. I turned back to my guest and put on a smile, pointedly ignoring the jerk at the bar. Trent saw who I saw and gave me a ‘sorry sis’ look.

“Looks like you have an admirer, Katalina,” Jillian mischievously smiles at my direction.

“Uh, right,” I force a smile.

“I wonder who could have sent it. It’s awfully sweet of them to do something like this,” Jillian goes on.

“Oh, it’s from no one important,” I say, wanting to drop this subject already.

I continue to eat my dessert, but mostly pushing it around my plate, already have lost my appetite. The cake and the flower are place right next to me, taunting me. Jillian gasps, capturing my attention, and I see that she looks awestruck or something. Lexi has the same look, staring at something behind me.

“I apologize for interrupting your dinner, but I came by to see if this lovely lady received my gift,” I hear his voice say. I roll my eyes at his politeness, knowing he’s just hear to annoy me.

Getting herself together, Jillian puts on a smile and answers. “Please, don’t apologize young man. As you can see, Katalina here has receive the delicious looking cake and the rose.” Lexi looks at me, then back to Aiden, then back to me again. I give her a look to let it be and I would explain later.

I turn around to address Aiden and so I don’t look like a total bitch ignoring him. “What can I do for you Mr. Crestwell?”

“Oh, nothing at all Miss Masters. It just so happens that I was here in the same restaurant and I just happened to see you as well. I thought it would be a nice thing to do send you something to gain your affection,” his eyes are amused and his ever so present smirk is there. I know he’s playing and thinks that I will blow up in front of my guests. Well not a chance.

“I appreciate the gesture, Mr. Crestwell, but we were just finishing up here. It’s a shame that I couldn’t enjoy this delectable dessert you have sent me,” I say back as sweetly as I can.

He knows my game as I could literally see the glint in his eyes. He smirks down at me and abruptly lifts his head to meet the gazes of the other people at my table.

“Excuse me, I didn’t introduce myself properly. I’m Aiden Crestwell. An… acquaintance of Katalina here. My family also does business with her family.”

Jillian lights up at Aiden. I can tell she’s taken by his looks and how formal he acts at his age. “It’s a pleasure to meet you Aiden. I’m Jillian and this is my husband, Randy. Our daughter here, Lexi, is best friends with Katalina.”

Aiden shakes hands with each of them, Lexi still a bit wide-eyed.

“It’s very nice to meet you all,” Aiden glances at his watch. “As much as I would love to stay and chat, I need to meet with some clients. Trent, great seeing you. And Katalina,” he bends a bit to my eye level, “I will see you soon.” Aiden winks and takes my hand to place a kiss. Then he walks away just like that.
