8. Why don't we take a seat.
The last time Nanase saw Misa in person was in Guam five years ago. As she and Maiyan exchanged their vows before God, among their sparse audience was Misa, the only member of Nogi present, smiling and taking pictures of them. Everyone else could only send gifts but Misa, Dear old Misa senpai was so adamant in making herself present to the wedding that she called Nanase the minute the invitation reached her, screaming through the receiver that she wouldn't miss it for the world. Maiyan's proposal was sudden as it is and they had decided on Guam in a heartbeat, about a week before the day itself. Nanase still told the others about it, even sending them simple invitations out of custom but of course both of them knew none of the members could make it in such short notice. Maiyan wasn't all that surprised at Misa's attendance, "It's Misa after all." she curtly said. But Nanase was. At the time, Misa had just graduated, topping everyone, just one year shy of Maiyan as the longest staying member in Nogi. She had a fixed job as an announcer for a celebrity talk show, thanks to her impeccable speaking skills, and she had her own brand of lingerie that she sometimes modeled herself. The name Eto Misa held quite an image. She was the definite "sexy otona" of modern japan, easy going and a fan of spirits, while everyone else had beer commercials, she was scoring classy, expensive, hard liquor. However, despite the stereotype, in reality she was the kindest and most matured member, often being the dependable senpai everyone looks up to. True to Maiyan's words of "It's Misa after all", Misa Senpai always puts others before her, helping the young ones behind the scenes and always buying everyone drinks and food.
But the fact that it's Misa puts Nanase on edge. She was still sitting down, and Misa was standing beside her with a smile. Nanase quickly stood up, realizing that she had been sitting this whole time which might seem a bit rude when meeting a friend who hasn't seen you in four years. Nanase was still scrambling to find words in her brain, Misa is the friendly type who often offers to meet up. How do I say no to that? How do I explain Maiyan to her?
"You look good Naachan. Everything's well?" Nanase snaps herself back to earth. Misa's voice was still the same as ever, a bit high tone on the edges, distinctly feminine, almost melodious in a way. Nanase returned a warm smile to the soft spoken woman, clearly pleased to hear such a familiar, intimate, almost nostalgic voice in such a long time. "Everything's fine thank you." Nanase replied. At this point Nanase was stalling, she was sincerely happy to be seeing such an old friend again but at the same time, cautiously trying to evade a future rendezvous. A couple of seconds passed and Nanase started to feel a bit suspicious. It usually takes Misa less than a second for her to say her signature "Let's have a drink together later, I know this good place." She always knows a good place. What is she waiting for? Maybe she's wondering where Maiyan is. The silence was making her sweat. That's it, she's saying the first word, she thought. If she leads the conversation, maybe the question will never pop up. "Uh.. H-how are you Misa? What brings you here?" she managed to blurt out, instantly regretting her choice of words since the question she just asked would totally prompt a similar question in return.
