Tears of the night

Aniket was meeting with the same businessman, and this time, he brought me along. We extended our honeymoon for a few more weeks, enjoying the sights of Nepal.

In the dimly lit restaurant, the man and woman looked at peace. They were eating a dinner which would fit at least ten children back at the hospital. Who needs that much food anyways?

I focus on the woman; she was not ugly, but not beautiful either. She was laughing at the joke the man made, and I could tell she was faking it by the look in her eyes. Her laugh never reached her eyes. She seemed to be conscious of her every move, and she wore the most revealing outfit on Earth.

Aniket made me wear somewhat of a day dress. The neckline was modest, but I didn't like that it showed skin. For some reason, I was completely okay with showing skin in front of Aniket, but when it came to other people, I was wary.

"Aniket, I'm hungry." I say, at the smell of food. I smell chocolate, escpecially. The sweet smell comforts me and I snuggle closer to Aniket. It's him. "Why do you smell like chocolate?"

"Cologne." He's been somber all day. Something was off. Aniket was always picking fights with me and now that he wasn't, I felt a bit lost.

I decide not to say anything. He has his arms around me, his fingers tracing the same pattern over my elbow nervously. My skin felt heated and I blushed furiously from the small action.

He was wearing a dark blue three piece suit, and he looked too handsome, what with his chocolate brown eyes, and sculpted smirk.

As we approached the couple, my eyes were on Aniket. My betraying eyes didn't stray from him, fixated on his face. He turns to look at me, his eyes conveying that I should focus on the couple instead.

I lower my eyes, embarrassed that he caught me; not that I was trying to be discreet. I inched away from his tight grasp, uncomfortable from his clutch. Noticing, he pulled me in closer, and grinned at the two, showcasing his perfect teeth. I threw a smile in their way for good measure.

My light blue day dress had a slit in the bottom, revealing my long toned legs. The mans' eyes strayed to my bare legs, and I clenched my teeth in order to stop myself from spitting at him.

I turned to look at Aniket who had a calm facade on his face. He didn't notice. Or he must have noticed but didn't want to cause a scene.

I sigh, not wanting to make a issue out of this. When the waiter trots to our table, I order some salad, and Aniket orders lavishly. I knew he wouldn't eat that much, so he must be ordering it to keep up his prestige.

"So, I see you've brought you beautiful wife with you," the man says, eyeing me.

Beautiful, my foot.

Aniket smiles and pulls me in, almost possessively. I stare at him, not knowing how to react at his sudden action. "She is, isn't she?" Aniket asks, kissing me and staring into my eyes.

I told him that I hated a public display of affection, yet here he was, showing me off like I was some trophy wife. I pinched his thigh, and went back to smiling like a innocent doll. That was my role, smile, and eat the salad. I was craving chocolate, especially with Aniket's cologne, but I couldn't possibly find chocolate in a sophisticated restaurant such as this. It would cause too many issues, since the pretty princesses who came here wore designer outfits that could feed a family for a month.

I remembered my mother, and what she would say if she looked at me now. She would laugh that I was tamed by Aniket of all people. It was ironic because, now, I am the pretty princess showcased for profit in business.
