"My days are beautiful because they're filled with you."

The gentle murmur of Jae's voice in your ear is familiar and soothing. You close your eyes and give a contented sigh, feeling his chest rumble against your cheek as he continues to softly hum.

You can't believe it's only been a year since the two of you got married. It feels like a dream. Standing in the middle of your kitchen at 2 am, gently swaying back and forth, you listen to the quiet sound of rain.

One arm wrapped around his waist, you smile at the feel of his pink flannel pajamas, an exact match to the pair you're currently wearing. The kitchen floor feels cold, but Jae's arm around you is warm. His other hand holds yours up near his shoulders, bent at the elbow, ballroom style. His fingers are laced with yours. You can hear his heart beat beside your ear. You wish the two of you could stay here forever, dancing in the kitchen in your own small fairytale.

Jae whispers your name.

"Hhmm?" you murmur sleepily.

"Will you dance with me like this in the future? Even when we're old, and tired, and wrinkly, and all of my hair has fallen out?"

You giggle and look up at him.

"I'll dance forever, as long as it's with you," you whisper, leaning up to kiss him gently.

Jae chuckles as you break away and your stomach gives a loud rumble.

"Oh! I almost forgot why we came in here. I better start on the pancakes," Jae says with a smile.

"Can't let my girls go hungry," he adds, reaching down to pat your pregnant stomach.

"Hey! We don't know yet whether it's going to be a boy or girl," you exclaim, grinning as you wrinkle your nose at him playfully.

Jae lifts his arm and spins you around, laughing.

"What do you think she'll be like?" he aks, beginning to assemble the ingredients for pancake batter.

"Don't you mean what he OR she will be like?" you grin, rolling your eyes.

Jae returns your smile, but he isn't backing down.

"I wonder if she'll be a good singer?"

"Probably," you say. "Her dad is an incredible one."

"At any rate, I hope our baby is a better singer than a pancake," he says. "Pancakes are terrible singers."

You raise your eyebrows curiously, but you know him too well now. You can sense a dad joke coming.

"And why is that?" you ask, not sure whether you should be laughing or rolling your eyes.

"They're always flat."

The sound of Jae's adorable laughter fills the kitchen, and you feel yourself begin to chuckle too. You never knew life could bring you so much happiness, listening to dad jokes and stealing impromptu dances with the person you love the most. You're glad you woke up to the rain.
