Chapter 7 - Theme Park Fun

When I woke up, I was surprised to see a note pinned to my bedside table. It was from Lissa and it read,

"The parents have organised for us kids to have a day out today. You wouldn't believe where we are going: THE THEME PARK! OMG! Anywayz we will be leaving at 10, so I recommend getting ready soon. See you soon. Lissa xx Oh btw Dan from next door is coming too. My parents thought that it would be nice to invite him aswell. Great...

Wow! I can't believe Marie and Andrew have organised for us to go to the theme park! Eep I love rides, but Dan will be there... I am still embarassed from the towel incident last night, so I have a feeling that it will be very awkward. Oh kill me now!

After I finished feeling sorry for myself, I brushed my teeth and put in a pair od contact lenses. Mental note: do not get them wet, cause that is not good for your eyes. I didn't want to wear my glasses, because they really do not suit me. Barely anyone knows about my bad eyesight. I quickly brush my hair into a high ponytail and wear some denim shorts and a white t-shirt that has a silver heart on the front. I put on some sandals and rush downstairs.

Everyone greets me and Marie says that Mark will be the driver today. She then says goodbye to us and heads off to work.

"Come on. We need to eat quickly and pick up Dan. Did I mention that he and Jake aren't exactly the best of buds? You'll see what I mean..." Lissa whispers to me, as I dig into my scrambled eggs and toast. I gulp down some orange juice and then we get in the car. We wait for Mark to come back with Dan and then we are finally ready.

"Hey gumdrop," Dan says to me, which leads to a chorus of giggles to erupt in the car.

"What?" he asks, clearly amused.

He greets each of the Harris's, but I see what Lissa meant, because he didn't get the most friendly of responses from Jake. I decide that I need to find out about their little feud some other time.

Mark starts driving and he tells us that it will take about fourty-five minutes to get to The Jennsburg Theme Park. To fill in the time, we play a long game od would you rather.

Jessie starts, "Dan, would you rather dye your hair pink for the rest of your life or kiss my sister?"

"That's easy. Kiss your sister of course," he says with a wink at Lissa, who winks back. Everyone starts to chuckle.

"Ok, my turn. Mark, would you rather have sex with a random stranger or shave your head bald?" Dan asks.

"Hm... that's a strange one. It depends how good looking the stranger is really, but I think I will have to say shave my head." Mark says and we all go 'Aww'.

"Kristy, would you rather lick Jake or hump a camel? Get it? Cause camels have humps?" he smirks.

Everyone immediately shouts abuse at him and Jake looks very alarmed, awaiting my answer.

"Well," I begin, "You didn't specify where I would have to lick Jake, so I will have to go with that one. Sorry Jake."

Everyone laughs and after playing this game for a while, we finally arrive at the theme park. Hoorah! We hurriedly get out of the car and show our pre-booked tickets to the lady at the counter. She gives us our wrist bands that allow us to skip the queues and we head off. This theme park is huge! I have never even heard of this particular theme park, but it is even bigger than the one I used to go to in California.

"Where to first?" asks Jake and Jessie points to one of the average-looking rollercoasters near the entrance. We walk to the ride and quickly skil the queue and start getting into the compartments. I'm sitting by Lissa this time with Mark sitting with Jake and Dan sitting with Jessie. This didn't seem like the most thrilling ride, but I was still excited.

As soon as the ride started, we all began to scream. It wasn't particularly scary, but we scream just because it's fun. Lissa and I wave our hands in the air and I turn around and see Jake and Mark copying us.

"Wooooooo!" I scream and after a few turns and drops, the ride is over. I'm getting really pumped now!

"That was epic!" Jessie shouts, while crossing his arms and trying to act cool with his dark shades. We all just laugh and Mark ruffles his hair, much to his irritance.

"Shall we go on the teacups now?" Lissa asks and we all agree with a laugh.

We head over to the teacup ride and we get into 2 of them. In the first one, there are Dan, Mark and I and in the second one, there are Jake, Lissa and Jessie. The ride begins and we start spinning around madly, while we scream with all our might. Dan being a crazy person, decides to start singing 'I'm a little teapot' and we all join him, much to the dismay of the young couple in the teacup next to ours.

Once we get off, we all feel dizzy so Lissa suggests that we go and get candyfloss from the stall nearby. I love candyfloss so much! We all buy small tubs, but Jake, seeing my love for candyfloss buys a large one and swaps it with mine, saying with a smirk, "A welcoming gift."

I give him my most dazzling smile and thank him. After we finish our candyfloss, we go on a few more rollercoasters and smaller rides until we reach the ride called, 'Cupid's boat fun' and Dan insists that we go on it. Once we head to the front of the queue that we skipped, Dan pulls me into his conpartment, immediately causing me to blush. I turn to my right and see Lissa give me a small wink and the ride begins. The ride is basically a slow boat ride through a pink wonderland filled with flowers and cupids that send arrows shooting above us. The cutest part of the ride was when it dropped rose petals on us near the end and snap a picture of each of the couples as they drop. I then notice that Dan is holding my hand and that makes my heart flutter unexpectedly.

When the ride comes to a halt, we hop out and head over to the booth to see our pictures. I have to admit that ours is very cute, because I have my hand in the air picking a rose petal out of the air with a big smile on my face while Dan looks at me really sweetly. This makes me blush so much and it doesn't help that Dan decides to buy it!

The other pictures aren't as cute as ours unfortunately. Mark and Jessie are making disgusted faces because they are probably feeling very self-concious being on a ride for lovers. Lissa's and Jake's on the other hand are hilarious. Jake is making a very weird face, because a rose petal hit him directly on the nose. Lissa's face looks very alarmed, because I don't think she was expecting things to fall out of the sky. She looks very scared and has her hands in her air, flapping wildly. We laughed for atleast 5 minutes with them looking very unimpressed.

After going on nearly all of the rides in the theme park, we decided that after we eat our lunch, we would go back home. We went into the massive restaurant at the theme park and sat down at one of the big tables. Wow! There was so much to choose from this menu. In the end, U decided to order a cheeseburger and chips. Oh well. I was really hungry. Once they came, we dug in, barely speaking to eachother throughout the whole meal, because we were so absorbed in the delicious meal. Finally, we finished and bid a sad farewell to the theme park and drove back home.

Once we got out, Dan pulled me to the side and said, "I really had fun today. We should all go out another time aswell. Atleast I have that picture from the Cupid ride to keep as a souvenir."

He chuckled and I stuck my tongue out at him. We all said bye to him and went back to the house.

"So how was it?" Marie asked me with a smile as soon as we came into the kitchen.

"It was amazing! Thanks so much for organising this," I said back.

"Oh it's dear. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself and after a few jokes from Mark, I went back to my room and recapped on the day.

I am really beginning to enjoy myself here in Denver. I don't know why I was so worried in the first place. So far no-one has found out about my real identity or about the accident and I am hoping to keep it that way.
