Dan Waters ♡
"Erm hi," I said to the boy who was literally hanging out of his window, trying to look at me properly. Lissa sure wasn't kidding when she said that he was dreamy. He has black hair that falls back in his face each time he flicks it to the back. His eyes are a warm brown and they hold so much emotion that I can't help but stare. As I look at him, I notice that his eyes quickly divert to my body and I immediately feel self concious, leading to me wrapping my arms around my chest. He chuckles as he sees my reaction.
"I'm Dan Waters. Nice to meet you," he says dreamily. Wait what?! Snap out of it Natalie!
"Kristy Evans. I guess we are neighbours," I say back.
"I guess we are. What brings you here, Kristy?"
"Well, my parents had to go off on a business trip for a year, so I'm staying here."
"How delightful. I was waiting for the day when someone would move into that room. I've always wanted a friend that I could just pop in to see everyday," he said with a smirk.
"Erm. We er just met and you can't just pop in whenever you erm feel like it." What is wrong with me?! Why am I stuttering like some love sick little puppy. You just met and this guy doesn't seem good for you. Get it together Natalie! You were the Queen Bee and it's time you acted like you did back then.
"Well if I pop in at night and just look at you, I don't think you'd notice," he smirks.
"What?! I am locking my window tonight because of you!" I shout, exasperated.
"Don't blame me. I really don't mind if you lock your window or not."
"Well I have always slept with the curtain open, so that the sun can shine in on my room in the morning. I guess that won't be possible with you living there," I mutter, hoping that the curtain being closed won't affect my sleep.
"You may feel this way, gumdrop, but just because you are living there, doesn't mean that I will keep my curtain or window closed. I need the wind, since it gets quite hot around here. You will start to feel that sensation soon and then you feel have to keep your window open," he laughs to himself hysterically. It's quite scary actually.
"I come from California. There is not way that Denver will be too hot for me," I grin, but quickly gasp because I just gave away my previous location. Oh well, what could Dan do to me, knowing that information? I am such a worry-guts!
"What's the matter, gumdrop?" he asks with concern that seems so sincere.
"Oh nothing. Ignore me. I'm just being silly. Wait a minute. Don't call me gumdrop!" I frown.
"Why not, gumdrop? I think it's cute," he winks playfully.
"Arrg. I have a feeling that you are going to get very annoying," I mutter.
"Oh well. You'll end up begging to be my friend. Since we just met, we need to get to know eachother. I'll start. My favourite colour is purple," he grins at me, waiting me to go on.
"Actually, I'm really tired, so I'd appreciate it if you just let me have a nap for a little while. Talk later, ok?" I say with a yawn. I'm not even kidding. I am reallg tired.
"K. See you then," he says before I close the curtain in his face.
Suddenly, I give in to the temptation and open it just a little bit again and say, "Dan?"
"Yeah?"
"My favourite colour is purple aswell," and I shut the curtain just after I see a genuine smile appear on his face.
Hm... he seems like a jerk, but he is friendly. I'll give him that. I've been in my room for half an hour now, so I ought to get ready for dinner. I make sure that my curtain is completely closed and then I take off the clothes that I wore for today's journey and put on a light purple blouse with some shorts that I didn't know I had. I then put on some flats and walk out of my room.
"Hey Kristy. Did you meet Dan?" asked Lissa, as I stepped outside.
"Yeah. He's quite friendly, but really annoying." I say back.
"You'll get used to it. Oh and by the way, don't bother talking to him at school."
"Wait. Why?" I ask, bewildered.
"Oh. He doesn't talk to anyone at school. He just keeps to himself. Believe me, we've tried. He just acts so different at school from when he is at home." she says and as we walk down the stairs, I wonder, who is the real Dan Waters?
