Laura's POV
Ross and I sat in the waiting room outside of Mr Swan's office. I'd received a phone call about Isabella fainting during homeroom and instantly Ross and I had dropped all of our commitments and rushed to the school to find out why she'd fainted so early in the morning.
It was our first time entering our old school again after so many years being away from it. The last time we'd set foot here was for our graduation and after that the rest of our life together had been nothing but a whirlwind of emotions. We'd gotten married, found out we were expecting Bailey and now we're about to expand our family even more.
It felt both nostalgic and strange to be back in our old school again. We both had so many memories of this place, it was the place that changed both of our lives forever. If our paths hadn't of crossed or one of us had decided to go to a different school our lives would be so much different right now.
"It feels strange to be back here again, huh?" Ross murmured, his voice breaking through into my thoughts. It was almost like he could read my mind. He shifted uncomfortably in his seat and I could tell that he was desperately trying to break the silence between us. "The last time we both sat here we were new parents and heading into our senior year."
I tilted my head in his direction and nodded slightly. I wanted to talk to him and share old memories of our school days together but our daughter was more important; we hadn't heard anything about her current condition and I couldn't rest until I had her in my arms knowing that she was safe. "It's crazy how times have changed." I replied, turning my attention back to Mr Swan's office door which luckily opened moments later.
Mr Swan, the same old man who had raised us in our teenage years, just now covered with more grey hair sympathetically smiled at the both of us and extended his arm out to Ross and I as a greeting. "Hello you two. It's great to see you both again although it's not on the best terms I understand."
I smiled and shook his hand before taking a step back and latching my hand protectively around Ross' waist. "It's great to see you again too, Mr Swan. You look the same as you did twelve years ago."
He chuckled and shrugged his shoulders after welcoming us into his office. He pulled out a chair for both Ross and I to sit down in before taking his same usual seat in front of us by his desk. I felt like a teenager again; it was crazy. "I could say the same to the both of you." He smiled, turning to Ross. "You look well, Ross. I'm glad to see you've turned out this way and not the way I envisioned in my head when you were sat here all those years ago for punching a fellow teammate of yours."
Ross laughed and shrugged his shoulders. He wrapped his spare arm around my shoulder and smiled happily at me. "All you need is a good woman in your life. If it wasn't for Laura I wouldn't be sat here today in the condition that I am."
Mr Swan grinned and then reached into his drawer, he pulled out a bunch of files and laid them out on the table for Ross and I to examine. "So... as you both know I've called you here regarding Isabella's unexpected fall during homeroom." He pointed to Isabella's information and glanced directly at me. "She doesn't have any allergies or health risks does she? We can't understand why she fainted like that so early in the morning."
I shook my head along with Ross. "No." I explained, handing the sheet of paper back to him. "Isabella has always been a healthy little girl, she's never suffered from any health risks and she's never fainted in her life."
Ross quickly interjected. "Is she okay?"
Mr Swan nodded. "She's in the nurses office right now. I'll send her out to you in a few moments, they're just doing a thorough check of her first."
