~ MASON'S PROV ~
"Your dad got a promotion?"
We were at lunch and dash was telling me how his got promoted.
"Yeah, he is going to be gone for a few weeks."
"Wow. Your dad deserves to be promoted, every time I'm at your house he always comes home exhausted." I say biting into my sandwich.
"Yeah I'm glad too although I'm going to miss him."
"Wait, did you say you were going to miss him?"
He looks at me and then realised what he said, his cheeks start to turn pink at the embarrassment.
"Awe is dash going all sentimental on me?" I say with a small smile on my face.
"I didnt say that. You have no proof of it."
He shifts his eyes away from me and pretends I didn't say anything.
"Dash." He ignores me and continues to look somewhere else.
"Dash you dont need to hide your feelings from me, we all miss our parents at some point. No need to look embarrassed."
He looks at me and a smile forms on his Face, not like the smirk that he uses but a real smile. But that didnt last long as his smile disappeared and turn into a smirk. Dang.he looked cute with a genuine smile.
"Is Mason going all sentimental on me?"
I just roll my eyes and take another bite to my sandwich.
"Anyway I was think we should study-"
"Hey Mason."
I look to my left side and see daniel with his friends saying hi while walking by. I smile back and wave to him to be nice. Looking back at dash I see he was making a face. He kinda looks a little mad and a bit jealous? Why, he was just saying hi to me.
"Why is the popular guy talking to you?" Dash says a little annoyed and anger in his voice.
"Cause we are friends."
"When did that happen?"
"A few days ago, he wants me to help him with science so I'm going to go study with him today in the library." I say.
"Oh." Is all he said to me. We sat in silence for a bit till I decided to break it.
"Are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
He says before he starts to take a bite out of his pizza. Not very long lily sits down besides me with a tray full of food.
"I am starving how about you guys?" She says shoving pizza into her mouth.
"I gotta go.... to the restroom."
Dash says getting up and walking away.
"What's with him?"
"I honestly dont know." I watch him as he dumps his food and leaves the cafeteria. I turn back around and stare at my food and think. Did I say something wrong to make him mad? Why is he mad anyway? All I'm doing is studying with a friend what's wrong with that? I sat there for what feels like forever just thinking when all the sudden I hear my name being called.
"Mason!"
"What?" I turn my head to see lily staring at me with raised eyebrows.
"What?"
"You dosed off again."
"Sorry, what were you saying?"
"Well I was saying that we should hangout today after school, I have something to show you."
"Oh I Cant I'm going to the library to study."
"Oh can I join you there then?" Lily says.
I look back at lily and give her a guilty look before I answer her.
"Well I'm going to the library to help someone with science." I say slowly.
"Who are you going with?"
Lily raises her eyebrows and waits for me to answer. I stare at her for a couple seconds deciding if I should tell her or not. Maybe I should, shes my best friend. We would do anything for each other. But if I do I dont know how she will react, ok I'm thinking to much about this she is my best friend I'm just going to tell her the truth.
"Im going with... daniel."
Once lily heard me say his name she spits out her juice that she was drinking and now coughing. She then looked at me with wide eyes in shock.
"Daniel football player, popular guy, and the hottie over there?!?" She says whisper yells at me. She raises her hand and points to where he is sitting.
"...Yesss."
"When did he start talking to you and why didnt you tell me?"
"Because you were gone at school and I was too busy to call you I'm sorry." I whisper back.
Lily let's out a sigh and picks up her juice again and takes a sip before speaking again.
"Ok next time tell me that the hottie is talking to you I want to know what they talk about and also I want to know what happens at the library, no excuses."
"I'm pretty sure there talks are boring, they probably talk about who is stronger than the other, but I will definitely tell you what happens at the library."
"Promise?" She holds up her pinky in front of me. I give her a smile lift up my pinky.
"I promise." I say wrapping my finger around hers.
"Good."
We both then let go and continue eating our food before the bell rang signaling that lunch is over.
