Natalie ran back in the house dialing her moms number. She called and called and called but she never picked up. She had hope she was going to pick up. "She's not going to answer Natalie" he grandpa said. "Yes she will!" Natalie sobbed refusing to believe her mom won't answer. Her and her grandpa went back and forth with Natalie refusing to believe him. The room went silent when her grandpa blurted "She's dead Natalie!" Natalie lowers the phone looking at everybody, Jason,Joe,her grandpa, and her grandma with depression and disbelieve in her eyes. Jason came over trying to hug her but she threw her phone down causing it to shatter as she ran out the door. Jason tried to stop her "Nataloe ple-" It was too late. She was gone. She ran and ran and ran not knowing where she was going but she knew she was going somewhere. Her house was all the way on the other side of town and she just wanted to be home. She slows down a little when she gets to the street with the park then turns down it. She goes in the playground and curls up in a tube slide that connected two parts of the playground. She curled up and softly cried. She pulled went to grab her phone but she threw it so she reached into her pocket to find nothing, just a dime her mom had giving her when they went shopping. She had a flashback to that day. Her mom bought her a new school outfit shed picked out but dropped a dime. Nataliepicked it up and tried giving it back but her mom told her hold on to it. She sobbed and sobbed until she started to drift. She didn't realize it but she had fallen asleep and woke up to a flashlight skimming passed the cracks of the slide. She looked to her other side and it was dark. She heard Jason yelling for her name in between sobs. She climbed out the rube and yelled for Jason as he ran up the playground hugging her. He nearly squeezed all her tears out telling her to never do that again and how much he missed her. Joe also came running over hugging her saying how worried he was. They released Natalie from the hug sparing her bones before they crushed them. Natalie didn't want to let go so she hugged Jason and cried in his chest. He tears filling his shirt with a dark spot above his heart. Jason hugged her back and Joe stood awkwardly. Natalie felt a tear on her shoulder and head meaning Jason was crying as well. They hugged for what felt like centuries before Joe asked to go back home. Natalie and Jason agreed as they walked back holding hands for comfort. They went to her grandmas house to figure everything out. Her father ran off neglecting her so she had to live with her grandparents. They discussed how she would get all her things there. Natalie knew, and her grandparents did too, that they weren't going to be around much longer. They're old and already having troubles with their memory and bones. They talked about what Natalie would do when they passed away, which wasn't too far. Jason offered, "Well she can um if it's um ok with um you she can uh" Joe nudged him in the arm signaling for him to hurry up. "She can stay with us" Jason managed to blur. "If that's k with you" Joe adds on. Her grandparents looked at each other and talked, discussing it. They decided to have Natalie stay with them for a little bit until she got all of her things then she could stay with Jason. Jason and Joe agreed then called there mom and stepped out onto the porch to explain. All Natalie needed was that final yes from their mom and she would have a home. Jason stood out on the porch for a good ten minutes before he stepped back in. Natalie was crawling under her skin waiting for him announce the news. She was excited but nervous to hear. "What if she says no. What if I have to go up for adoption. What if I never see Jason again when I get adopted." Natalie had all these negative thoughts running through her brain as if they were apart of her blood. Though, her thought came to a sudden the stop when Jason said "She said yes"
