Chapter 26

Dakota's POV
It's been a week since Jamie and I had our last conversation. We haven't really talked to each other after what happened to us. Maybe it was just a big mistake and I think the awkwardness took place already.

I've also been feeling so awkward lately. I've been having mood swings a lot and I'm feeling sick.

Actually, up until now, I've been feeling the same feeling. Maybe I should tell my mom.

I went inside her room and saw her there, reading a book.

"Mom..", I called.

She looked up to me and closed her book. She just opened the cabinet beside her and pulled out something.

A PT.

She handled me the PT. WHAT THE HELL.

"Mom?!", I said with an annoyed tone.

"I have this feeling that you're pregnant. I am observing you for almost a week now. Do you think I won't notice? I've been there Kota.", she said emotionless.

I just went inside my room and went inside my bathroom.

I used the PT to check if my mom was right.

I was too nervous, I just don't wanna look at it. And when I finally did, I saw it has turned into two lines. And that means I'm positive. I.AM.PREGNANT. The father? I'm so sure about it cuz he was the last one I had sex with, Jamie.

WHAT SHOULD I DO?

I ran inside my mom's room and cried hard as I showed her the PT. I hugged her and cried until I have no tears left to cry.

"I knew it.", she said with a smile.

I wiped my tear as I sob.

"Who?", she asked.

"Mom... mom.. I'm so-", I was cut off by her words.

"No, shh. Don't be.", she said while rubbing my back.

"It's- it's Jamie.", I said while letting out a sigh.

"The guy you've been hanging out for so long now?", she asked.

"Yes. We-we just got a bit drunk and things just started heating up... uh- we had sex that night. Stella was with us that time. She knows, I thought she was sleeping but she was aware.", I explained.

"It's okay. The thing now is you gotta let him now about this.", she suggested.

I shook my head in frustration.

"We stopped talking after that mom, we never talked again. I just can't. He will hate me.", I said still in frustration.

"He has to know, he'll never hate you. I saw his stares at you. The way he looks at you is showing much love. You never noticed that?", she asked.

I stopped and think about it for a second.

I remember when he suddenly went here when he was drunk. He told me he loves me. I smiled at the thought.

Mom looked at me while giving me a 'are you going to tell him' gestures while smiling.

"You're right mom. I should tell him.", I said as I got up.

"That's my girl.", she said while giggling.

"I'm just gonna fix myself and I'm gonna tell him.", I said as I ran towards my room and dressed up.

After 5 minutes, I was so prepared.

I grabbed my keys and dialed his number.

Dialing Mr. Awkward
Ringing...
"Hello?", he said.

"I'm going there.", I said excitedly.

"Why? I'm not home.", he said.

"Where are you? We need to meet up.", I said.

"I'm here at the Starbucks.", he said.

"Okay, I'll be coming there in 10 minutes.", I said as I got in my car and drove fast.

I reached the Starbucks and parked my car properly. I went out and got inside the coffee shop.

I search for Jamie and I saw him sitting on the left side near the window.

I went near him and I just realized that he's with Amelia, his ex.

"H-hi Jamie... and...", I was cut off by his ex.

"Amelia.", she said as she got up and lend her hand to me for a handshake.

I grabbed her hand and spoke, "Dakota, nice to meet you.", I said removing our hands together as I gave her a weak smile.

"Have a seat.", she said.

"Uhm she's my friend. We met at the famous caffé.", he said avoiding eye contact with the two of us.

"Uhm I didn't want to interrupt you guys. But, Amelia, can I talk to Jamie for 2 minutes? I just have to tell him an important thing?", I asked politely.

She nodded and smiled. I felt all the guilt building up inside my body, together with anger and feeling of losing.

I brought Jamie outside so that Amelia won't hear us.

I sighed deeply as I tried to speak.

"Jamie, I want you to know...that.. I-I'm pregnant.", I said while feeling myself being pale because of nervousness.

He just stared blankly.

"I know, I just felt the need of telling you. You don't have to take this child inside my womb as yours. I can manage to grow this by myself.", I said while tears started falling down my cheeks.

He was so speechless so I decided to walk away but then I heard him.

"Kota!", he called.

I didn't look back.

I heard footsteps following me. It's him.

"Stop. Look at me.", he said as he let me turn around.

I'm a mess. I am crying a lot.

"Don't cry, we'll take care of that little human, together, okay?", he said while wiping my tears.

"W-what about Amelia?", I asked while catching my breath as I sob.

"Don't worry, it was all business. We were just dealing about business. We're good friends now and she has her new guy and remember? She has a baby.", he said with an encouraging smile.

I smiled weakly.

"Now, let's go back in there together and we bid our goodbyes to her, okay?", he said.

I nodded and fixed myself.

We got in and we talked to Amelia.

"We need to go now Amelia. We'll talk about it next week.", he said.

Amelia nodded and smiled at us.

"Good bye then.", she said while waving her hand.

"Goodbye.", we said in unison.

We went separately in our cars.

I grabbed my phone and texted Jamie.

To: Mr. Awkward
Meet me at our house.

From: Mr. Awkward
Sure. Take care!

To: Mr. Awkward
You too. 😊

I put my phone back in my bag and drove to our house.
