Unforgivable Mistake

Chapter 6

Iris's Pov:

I woke up early the next day. The weather was cold and gloomy and it looked like it was going to rain. With a sigh I got out of my bed and got ready for school. After eating breakfast my mum dropped me off to school.

At school

While I was walking through the gates I saw Daniel with his friends and Rose and I remembered what happened yesterday. Daniel turned his head and looked in my direction and I knew he saw me. I quickly walked into school not wanting to talk about what happened when his friends were there. I walked into the math classroom,because it was my first lesson, and I saw Violet and Mark standing by the window.
"Hey guys",I said walking up to them,"How are you feeling today Mark?"

"I'm alright just got a nasty bruise."
We carried on talking about what we did yesterday until the teacher came and the lesson started.

Lunchtime

"Finally third period is over", Violet sighed.

We just had science and it was so boring that I almost fell asleep. We were heading to the canteen so Mark and Violet could get their lunch.

"Oh god! The line is so long and I'm starving",Mark complained.

"Don't worry the line will go down and soon well be able to get our food",Violet assured him.

Soon more and more students were filing into the canteen.

"Is it ok if I go outside? I'm starting to feel a bit claustrophobic with everyone trying to squeeze in the line", I asked.

"Sure but don't you want to eat anything?" Mark asked.

"No thanks I'm good."
I left the canteen and went outside. There weren't many people out here. Probably because it was so cold. I draped my coat over my shoulders hoping to feel a bit of warmth and sat down on a bench. I stared up at the dull,grey sky and after a while I was lost in my own world. That was until I heard someone say my name.

"Iris! Hello! Earth to Iris!" Daniel shouted while waving his hand in front of my face.

"Sorry. What's wrong?",I questioned after coming back to my senses.

"Finally! I've been calling you for ages. I wanted to speak to you."
I frowned. Speak to me about what?
Daniel must have realised I was confused.

"I wanted to speak to you about what you heard yesterday at my house."

"Oh!",I realised. How could I forget about that? I mentally facepalmed myself.

"About that. What happened?"

"Actually I was wondering if you could meet me at the cafe near my house and I'll explain it there. I don't feel comfortable talking about it at school."

"Okay sure",I smiled.

"Okay. So I'll see you at 4:00?" He asked.

"Okay"

"Great",and with that he walked away.
Suddenly the bell rang and everyone had to go back to class. Only two lessons left and I can go home I kept telling myself.

After school

As I was walking out the gates I saw my mum waiting for me in the car. My mum works as a care worker and if she doesn't have to see many people she comes home early.
"Hi mum."

"Hello darling. How was school?"

"It was good. I need to tell you something when we get home."

"Okay"

At home

After I ate and changed my clothes I told my mum about Daniel wanting to meet me.
"Sure you can go",she said,"This Daniel isn't your boyfriend right?"

"What?! No! Ew!",I exclaimed.

"Alright calm down. It was just a question",she laughed,"But you would tell me if you ever got a boyfriend wouldn't you."

"Obviously your be the first one to know."

"Okay now you better go if you don't want to be late."

"Thank you",I gave her a hug and left to go to the cafe.
