Unforgivable Mistake

Chapter 4

Daniel's Pov:

By the time I reached the gate Iris was nowhere to be seen. Guess I'll just have to find her tomorrow I thought to myself as I started to walk home.

At home

Iris's Pov:

"Iris is that you?",I heard my dad call from the living room.

"Yeah", I replied.

"Your mum left some food for you in the kitchen if you wanna eat it."

"No thanks I'm not hungry",and I ran up to my room.

Once I reached my room I threw myself on the bed. Finally some peace and quiet. "Knock,knock".

"Hi Iris!", my little brother Adam exclaimed.

"What do you want?",I asked annoyed that the silence was ruined.

"I have a question"

"Of course you do"

"Why do we have to eat?"

I turned my head to look at my brother who was staring at me with confusion in his eyes.

"Seriously?", I sighed,"You know why we have to eat."

"Yeah but why",he asked again.

"Because if we don't eat we'll die okay? Now go to your room and leave me alone. I'll see you later at dinner",I said.

"Okay", he said and walked out of my room closing the door behind him.

Once I finished doing my homework and cleaning up I decided to go for a walk since I needed some fresh air.

Daniel's Pov:

As I walked through the front door to my house I was hit with the smell of alcohol and cigarettes. I walked past the living room quietly trying to avoid my dad noticing I was home. Why? It's because my dad hates me with all his heart. Ever since I was born my parents thought I was a mistake and because of that my mum left my dad because she never wanted a child in the first place. That's why my dad hates me and he blames me for my mum leaving him and messing up his life. It's also the reason he has this bad drinking habit.
"Oh look who it is", my dad said when he saw me at the stairs,"It's my worthless son."

I slowly turned to look at my dad.Suddenly he swung his fist at my face and I fell to the floor.
"YOU'RE NOTHING BUT A USELESS SON THAT JUST KNOWS HOW TO MAKE PEOPLE'S LIVES MISERABLE! I HATE YOU! GET OUT OF MY FACE!!",My dad shouted at me.

I quickly jumped to my feet and ran to get changed in my room. After I was changed I went out the house to have some fresh air and hopefully get a clear mind. No one can know about my home life and what I go through. Not even Rose that's what I keep telling myself.
