Daniel's Pov:

Bang!

I jumped up, startled by a loud noise. I turned my head to look around my room and winced from a sudden pain I felt in my neck. It was only then that I realised I had fallen asleep on my desk while watching videos. I rubbed the tiredness away from my eyes and stood up from my desk to go to the bathroom and freshen up.

After I came out of the bathroom, I  went downstairs to make some breakfast. As I was going past the living room, I saw my dad passed out on the sofa with a empty alcohol bottle in his hand. I stared at him and sighed So that's what the loud noise was. When I got to the kitchen I made a bowl of cereal for myself. Just as I was about to start eating my breakfast, I heard something drop onto the floor coming from the living room. I quickly tidied any mess that I made and went back up to my room with my cereal to eat it there instead so I didn't have to see my dad.

After finishing my cereal and going on my phone for a bit, I put my trainers on and ran out the house to go for a little jog in the park.

Iris's Pov:

Beep!Beep!Beep!

I lazily opened my eyes and turned my alarm off. It was only 7:00am in the morning and I didn't have to go to school so I went back to sleep and drifted off into dreamland.

Ring!Ring!

I turned over in my bed so I was lying on my back and covered my ears with my pillow. Now what? I thought, annoyed that I was woken up for the second time. I grabbed my phone from my bedside cabinet and answered the call.

"Hello?" I said, my voice croaky from just waking up.

"Hi Iris. Sorry did I wake you up?" Violet asked.

"Yeah but it's okay. What are you doing? Have you reached the campsite yet?"

"No not yet. The teacher said we should be there in a hour. It feels like we've been on this bus for years. I'm getting tired of just sitting here!" Violet complained.

"Just wait one more hour and then you'll be able to do whatever you want." I told her while getting up from my bed.

"I know,"she sighed,"what are you going to do today? Have you planned anything?"

"No. I'm probably gonna stay at home. I might go for a walk later though. The weathers quite nice today," I said looking out my window seeing the sun gleaming in the clear blue sky.

"Okay well I'm gonna hang up now. I think I might have a small nap before we get to the campsite. I'll talk to you later."

"Okay bye," I said and then she hung up.

I chucked my phone onto my bed and went to the bathroom. I came out the bathroom and went downstairs to the kitchen to make myself some breakfast. Just as I was about to open the door to the fridge I saw a note stuck onto it. It read:

I made some breakfast for you it's in the oven make sure you heat it up before you eat it. Me and your dad will be home late today and Adam's going to his friends house after school so you'll be home alone all day. When you get hungry go out and treat yourself to some food I left some money on the counter. I'll see you soon.

Love mum xx

I smiled once I finished reading the letter. Yes! I'm gonna be all by myself which means I can do whatever I want! I internally squealed. I took the breakfast my mum made out of the oven and heated it up. Once it was nice and hot I went to the living room, turned the tv on and sat there watching tv while eating my breakfast.

After a while I started to get bored of sitting on the sofa doing nothing apart from watching tv so I started to do my daily chores. I made sure the house looked spotless and then I went back to my room and picked my outfit for the day. When I was ready I got the money my mum had put on the counter and went out for a bit.

I stepped out of the house and headed to my favourite cafe to get my usual iced coffee. Despite the sun being out it was quite cold. Good thing I brought my jacket I thought while putting it on. Instead of going straight to the cafe I took a longer route to try and kill some time since I didn't have anything important to do. As I was walking down a particular street I looked around and saw big beautiful houses that looked like mansions. All of them were single detached houses and each of them had a huge front garden,a driveway and a garage. While I was going past one of the houses I saw an old woman watering her plants. In her garden she had several rose bushes that had lovely red roses as well as white and pink roses. She also had a little patch of lilies that were slowly blooming.

"Good morning." She greeted happily.

"Good morning." I replied smiling and carried on walking and after a while I finally reached the cafe.

A/N:

I decided to change the title of the story to match the description which has also changed. If you've been reading this story from the very beginning check the story description and you'll see that its changed and the story should make more sense now. I've changed the story to be about Daniel instead of Iris since it's about the things Daniel goes through. Thanks for reading!
