The next day, since we have Monday off school, Cade says that I can hang out with him and Danny at Cade's place. I don't know what Ryan's doing, but he can't come, and Noah and Hadley weren't invited because they were both still fighting. We could have just invited one of them, but we couldn't deal with them in the same room asking who's side we are on. Team Hadley or team Noah? Team Alyssa.
I walk over to Cade's lovely, familiar house where we are supposed to meet up.
I am in front of the door and am about to knock, but I hear the two boys chatting, so I take advantage of this moment. I am not an eavesdropper, but the conversation sounds interesting, so I guess I kind of was an eavesdropper right now but, that's not important. Don't blame me. I bet you'd do the same if people were talking about your crush, and it sounded intriguing.
I hear the sound of Danny's voice first. "Yeah. He's got the hots for her." My eyebrows shot down at that.
"Ryan does?" Cade's voice asks, interested.
I frown. Ryan likes someone? Who in the....?
"He really has the hots for her. He never told me anything, but I can tell. He's never acted like that around any other girl before. He acts nervous around her or when we mention her. He's falling hard. Hard, dude. And he just met her. I have to fight off the urge to tease him about it. Oh, don't tell either of them about this. Okay?"
"Okay."
A grumble comes from my throat.
I've decided I've had enough of this conversation and should stop listening before I cry the most embarrassing tears, so I pull myself together and knock on the door. "Cade?"
"Coming!" he yells, and within seconds he opens the door and smiles. "Hey bestie." He says.
"Hi, how's it going?" I say as I walk in the door.
He closes the door. "Good."
Then Danny greets me. "Krissssyyyyyyyy! I'm so glad I met you, did you know that? You're a great friend!" He runs up to me and gives me a tight hug.
"Thanks. You are, too," I say in a strained voice and smile. "And you're talking like my baby sister."
He let go of and looked at me. "You have a baby sister?"
"Yeah. Her names Aubrey."
"Ooh, cool. I don't know much about babies. Actually, I know a lot about them, but before they're born. Like how to create-"
"Alright, so, do you want to watch a movie?" Cade asks at the same time I mutter a surprised Oh, wow, cutting off Danny and changing the subject. I chuckle. "We don't really have anything else to do but watch a movie."
"Okay. But...Cade's movies are boring," I say to Danny.
"They are not!" Cade yells and looks at me in disbelief.
"Hmm...." I say and walk over to the shelf with movies. "Let's see. Ninja turtles, Milo and Otis, -which by the way was my favourite movie as a kid."
Then Danny walks over to the shelf. "A Doctor Phil Marathon. What the fuck?!" Danny says, and I laugh.
"Hey, that's my moms," Cade says in a defending way for himself and his mom. He snatched the DVD away from Danny.
"Well, I bet this one isn't your moms," I say and hold up Barbie as Princess and the Pauper.
"Shut up! That's yours! You left it here years ago. Now that movie sucked ass."
"Then why is it still here, on the first shelf, where all the movies that you always watch are? Did you keep it and not tell me that I forgot it so that you could watch it?" I gave him an expectant look.
