Chapter 13 End

Elsie's POV

I sat there in the train station alone. I wish I stayed there and just went with my sister to New York.

I can't believe I went to him. I played with my sling bag which my feet kept on hitting out of frustration.

I should have guessed wrong. Ken never asked me to be in a relationship or something with him and I freaking assumed he liked me.

Maybe, that was just a friendly gesture and he was just trying to be a great friend to me. Or worse, maybe he was just playing with me.

I sighed loudly and sucked up my tears. Next time, I should think again. Boys are just so complicated. We think differently too much.

"Hey." I heard someone say from behind. I looked back and saw no one. My head must be crazy to think that Ken followed me around here. I bitterly smiled at the crowd who didn't even care I was there.

I looked down at my sling bag and saw two unexpected feet in front of it. I traced the feet and I saw Kenneth. In my inside, I want to smile but I couldn't.

"Hi." I looked up to glance at his face but I turned away immediately. When I glanced at him, I saw a smile plating on his face.

"Hi." He replied then I felt him sitting beside me. He was panting and smelt bad of beer.

We sat there for who knows how long.

The space he made was kind of making me sick. A lot of questions were running in my mind. What is he doing here? What is he doing right now? What am I going to say? Am I going to say something?

Everyone was moving and later on, a few of the people would be left in the station. When I felt that time was tickling and it was making me crazy. The station was quiet once and for all and I checked the time. 11:47. My heart was beating like crazy.

Ken's POV

It was 11:48 and I brought myself nearer to her. Whenever I came nearer, she would go further, making space but I know there would be time when there would be a stop. It's the bench we used to sit on as I remember. Finite.

I know I was being such a jerk before but it felt like everything that happened before didn't matter. I don't know what made me kick my balls and make a move. I stopped being a jerk when I finally made a move towards her.

It started the day that I meant to hit her with a soccer ball to the day I got her to detention with me and to the day I had basketball with her even though I was exempted.

"What are you doing?! Making me fall?!" She stood up unexpectedly and walked away. Why is she walking away?!

I immediately stood up and faced her because I knew she was going left. She always went there. I grabbed her right arm and made her face me. "I love you, Elsie."

Then she had a melt down. She stared at me with her blue eyes striking me. She must remember. It was my first celebration of my birthday with her. She eventually sat on the same bench and looked at the floor blankly.

I kneeled in front of her and held her hands. We stayed like that for a few seconds. I know I smell like beer but I had to catch up to her as fast as I can. After I looked at her one more time, I glanced at my watch. 12:00.

"Happy Birthday." She whispered to me and I heard it. I smiled at her. Every nerve in my body excited in anticipation. After all these years, I never thought that I would end up in this position, with her.

"Stand up. I want my gift you never gave to me 8 years ago." My heart started to make thumps that I have never felt before and it was amazing.

Elsie's POV

I hesitated before standing but I eventually did afterwards. Kenneth stood up and kneeled with his right leg. "Care to dance, my lady?"

I chuckled and sucked up my tears. "Yes sire." I bowed like a princess.

"Shall we dance without music?" He gave me that crazy stare that every girl would die of. I mean who couldn't resist that? It's ecstatic.

Ken's POV

We danced goofily for minutes until we came to our senses that we slowed dance. I put my arms around her waist. Her hands are enveloping my neck and her head was on my shoulder.

"I'm sorry Elsie." I told her. I felt her sigh deeply and nodded understandingly.

"I already forgave you the moment you said I love you." I froze. She remembers.

"I love you, Elsie." My heart jumped a million electricity currents and it felt ecstatic. She didn't say anything. My heart fell. What if she doesn't feel the same way? I froze again.

"Continue dancing. I love you too Kenneth Brown."
