**Nicki POV*
I woke up, Drake was still sleeping so I went to check on Matthew.
"Hey Mommy." He smiled.
"Hey baby boy how'd you sleep?" I smiled back.
"Good." He reached towards me so I carried him out of his crib.
"Lets see if Skylar is up." We walked to Skylar's room. "Skylar?" I whispered.
"Mommy!" She exclaimed and jumped out of bed.
"Good Morning!" Matthew giggled.
"Good Morning." Skylar replied. "Mommy can you pick me up too?"
I picked her up and we walked downstairs, "If we hurry we can make Daddy breakfast."
"Yayy!" Matthew cheered.
We quickly made pancakes and I carried the plate up while Skylar balanced a glass of OJ and Matthew held the silverware and the syrup.
"Daddy! Daddy!" Matthew ran over to Drake.
"Yeah?" Drake opened his eyes tiredly.
"We made you breakfast Daddy!" Skylar added.
"Oh really?" Drake wiped his eyes and sat up. I handed him the plate and Skylar handed him the juice. He took a sip of the juice then sat it on the nightstand. "Mmmm thanks"
"You're welcome Daddy!" Skylar said proudly.
Matthew handed Drake the silverware and syrup.
"Thanks bud" Drake started eating.
"Come on let's go get some food for us now too." i took the kids by their hands and walked downstairs.
"We should make a cake!" Skylar suggested.
"Yeah! Can we Mommy?" Matthew asked.
"Sure," I pulled a box out the cabinet, "Birthday cake kind?"
"I never had cake before." Skylar said looking at the picture on the box.
"I never had cake too." Matthew added.
"Really?" I looked at them confused.
"At the center, they says cake is not healthy so we can't have none." Skylar explained.
"Well we're gonna make a cake because everyone loves cake and you shouldn't have to miss out." I smiled, I handed Skylar the box "Can you read what ingredients we need?"
"I can't read." Skylar looked up sadly.
"Me too." Matthew sidelined.
"Wait they didn't teach yall how to read there?" I shook my head, "Well you're here now and both of yall will be starting school soon and they wont let you in if you can't read. I don't know how to teach kids how to read but we'll work together right?"
"Yeah!" Skylar cheered.
"Yay!" Matthew clapped.
While the cake was in the oven we went to the book store, "Come on this has to be fast so we can be back in time to get the cake out the oven."
Matthew picked out a Thomas the train book, and the Gruffalo's Child.
Skylar picked out Cinderella and Snow White.
I picked up the Very Hungry Caterpillar and Good Night Moon, then we paid and hurried home.
The timer on the oven said 5mins, "Perfect timing." I smiled. "Lets wash our hands then we'll take the cake out and let it cool before putting the icing on top.
We washed our hands and said the ABC's for each person's turn.
I took the cake out and set it on the counter, I grabbed 3 markers and some paper and sat it on the table.
"Skylar can you spell your name?" I asked her, halfway knowing the answer.
"No."
"Okay," I wrote her name in all caps and showed her, "What letters are there?"
"Uhhh P?" she guessed.
"Okay.. No." I put the paper down, "lets back up some more."
"Sorry"
"Its not your fault." I sat next to her, "say the ABCs slowly and I will write the letters so you can see them okay?"
"A"
I wrote the letter in the bottom right hand corner.
"B"
We continued and I wrote each letter randomly around the paper.
"Now Matthew you say the letters slowly and Skylar has to point to the right one. For each one you get right, I will give you and M&M."
They did that, she did pretty well aside from a few mistakes. She messed up on "P B D" "T I" and "L F E" because they are a little similar. I showed her the paper with her name again, "Now can you tell me what letters are here?"
"S" She pointed.
I nodded.
"K"
"Yep"
"Y"
"Yeah"
"E?"
"L, but thats okay keep going."
"A"
"Good last one?"
"R"
"Great!" I gave her another M&M. "Let's make this a game for the week, whenever we see something with a letter on it I want yall to say what letters there are okay?"
"Yay!" They cheered together.
"And I will keep M&Ms with me to give yall." I gave them each another M&M. "Later we can make up a song to remember how to spell our names okay?"
"Yay!" They cheered again.
I laughed, they were so cute. "Alright lets put the icing on the cake now."
After we put the icing on the cake I let them lick the icing from the spatulas.
"Can we have some cake now?" Skylar asked.
"Pleaseeee" Matthew added.
I put a handful of carrots on the table in front of each of them, "Eat carrots first then I'll cut you a piece."
"Okay" Skylar started eating.
"Yay we're gonna get cake!" Matthew clapped to himself before eating his carrots.
