**Drake POV**

I sat in bed and waited for Nicki to return from putting Matthew to bed. She walked in and sat next to me, "I'm exhausted." she said taking off her shoes.

"What's up with you?" I asked, I couldn't hold it back.

"What do you mean? I had a long day now I'm exhausted." She looked at me confused.

"One minute you hate Matthew and him and shit, the next minute you can't get enough of him."

"Wait you're angry because I'm spending time with my son? Would you rather me ignore him and pretend not to care about him?"

"I'd rather you choose if you're gonna be a mother or not and stop playing with his emotions."

"What are you talking about? You're upset because of what happened this morning? I wouldn't have done it that way if I hadn't heard you speaking down on me to my son." She stood and I pulled her back down.

"What's different between today and yesterday? Just because you made him cry? You make him cry everyday so I'm not getting it." I looked her in her eyes and she glared at me.

"I'm not getting it, you're pissed when I'm mean to him and pissed when I'm nice to him, what do you want from me? You rushed me into adopting a kid before I really had time to think things through, I wasn't ready and I'm still not ready! I'm trying and that's all that matters." I watched the tears fall from her eyes, and she stood again.

"Babe," I reached for her but she pulled away.

"Leave me alone." She left the room, at first I was scared but then I heard the door down the hall shut.

"She's just down the hall" I reassured myself.

**THE NEXT DAY**

I woke up and smelled pancakes so I went downstairs to find Matthew and Nicki making breakfast and giggling.

"Okay does this one look like a train?" Nicki asked in between laughter.

Matthew looked in the pan, "No" then he laughed some more.

"Okay this isn't working out so how bout I just make a really big pancake and cut it to look like a train" Nicki suggested.

"Yeah!" Matthew agreed.

"Okay good," she poured the rest of the pancake mix into the pan, "I had an idea for a fun day, just me and you"

"Play trains?" Matthew asked excitedly.

"Even better"

"Buy trains?"

"Even betterrrrr" She flipped the huge pancake over in the pan.

"Uhhhh"

"We can ride a train!" She turned to Matthew.

"Yayy and Daddy too?" Matthew said then he noticed me standing there, I put my finger to my lips because I wanted to hear Nicki's response.

"That's the one bad part, there were only two tickets left for the train so daddy can't come," She ran her fingers through his hair.

"Really? Is that what happened?" I cleared my throat.

Nicki jumped at the sound of my voice, "Babe you scared me," she put one hand over her chest.

"Why'd you buy tickets if there weren't enough for the family, you realize you could've gotten tickets for another train for another time." I questioned.

"Why are you always worried about what happens between me and my son? For your information we are going somewhere special but after today it wouldn't be special anymore." She turned back to the huge pancake and put it on a plate.

"What makes today so special?" I walked to her.

"If I told you right now, it would ruin the surprise for Matthew." She said moving around me.

"Matthew go into the living room for a few minutes." I said, Matthew nodded and left. "I'm listening."

"Fine, I found out about a train convention in Brooklyn but today's the last day. When I found out there were only two tickets available for the train I tried to check for a later train but it would be too late and we'd miss most of the stuff that's going on." She took a deep breath, "If it makes you feel any better you can take my ticket, I'm only concerned that Matthew gets to go and have a great time just take pics for me."
