"Weasley, Ronald"
There was almost no pause before the hat shouted;
"GRYFFINDOR"
With a happy look on his face Ron went to his house table without looking at Harry.
"So Potter... Slytherin?"
Harry turned to his side to see the Slytherin prince sitting next to him with his famous smirk on his face.
"Hello Malfoy." Harry was almost relieved to see the blonde beside him knowing that he was sat next to a new friend.
"Now. What was the glass about?" Harry panicked. He couldn't exactly tell him that his friends just thought that he was friends with the boy because he was sorry for him.
"They didn't think that I could be in Slytherin and they kept insisting that I was lying!" Harry explained only not telling him the whole story.
"I know that that's not the only reason Potter." Malfoy insisted.
"Harry" the raven haired boy said.
"What?" The blonde replied,
"Call me Harry. We are friends now after all. Aren't we?"
"Yes we are which also means that you can trust me." The boy sighed
"What happened, Harry?" Harry sighed once again before blurting out;
"TheythoughtIwasjustfriendswithyoubecauseIfeltsorryforyouwhichisn'tthecase!"
"Harry, calm down!" Draco whispered into Harry's ear before he tried taking a breath and explaining again
"They thought I was just friends with you because I felt sorry for you which isn't the case!" Harry stares at Draco who was now glaring in the two tables his friends were at. Harry followed his gaze and saw Ron laughing but when he saw Harry he stopped and looked away.
Suddenly there was a thud next to Harry and he flinched and brought his hands up to his face into a protective position. This was just force of habit to Harry as whenever Vernon did this when he was at the Dursley's it normally meant that he had done something wrong. Doing something wrong normally ended up with a beating.
Draco, seeing Harry do this out of the corner of his eye, turned to look at the boy and grabbed his arm to pull them away from his face but this once again was greeted with a flinch and Harry shuffling along the bench away from the blonde.
"Potter, what do you think I am going to do? Hit you?" Draco questioned sarcastically. This caused the smaller boy to flinch a final time. The blonde looked at the boy before him in pure horror. Did he actually believe that he would do it?
"Harry, I was just joking" Draco said with a slight crack in his voice. Harry brought his hands down and looked at the blonde, confused. Seeing the look of horror on his face, Harry grabbed his timetable that had been placed before him and ran out of the great hall and down to the black lake only to be followed by the blondes shouts.
