You and I
We were created,
Fated,
Cursed to
Leave behind the only trace of a world
That once burned,To tear apart the fabric of time
Silencing the hollows where
A rusted lonely Heaven
Makes peace with the rain.Promise me you'll
Say my name again
Just one more timeSoftly.
Swear by Styx you'll look for me in
Everything that catchesyoureverybreath
And
I'll look for you in
Everything
tenuous and flickering
Like a dewdrop catchingThe sun.
Because
You and I.We were
Created
Carved
Sentenced to
build sandcastles in sentences
Palaces out of paragraphs
Cathedrals out of cadences
Tombs out of this grave tranquility. So say my name once again and
I'll place my hand on the
Crescent of your cheekSo when the sun dies
I'll hold you last
An oath to be your scarecrow
Against the dying dusk.Close your eyes from the ruins
And tell me where it all
Goes
down
In this ghost town.And when I become your scarecrow in the dark;
November will remember
The dying ember of your heart.
