When she walked down the halls, she kept her head held down low so as not to gather attention to herself.
At least, that was what everyone assumed. Truthfully, she did it in order to get attention but keep the idea that she was a shy innocent trapped in her school-mates minds. She knew how she looked, she knew most boys paid attention to her despite the fact that she was so small.
She had long blond hair with strait cut bangs and had the habit of wearing a light blue cloak with a hood over herself in order to make her dark blue eyes stand out.
She jumped schools nearly every year, always assuming a new name but each year ended the same.
When she came to school, she chose a boy and by the end of the year, that boy was dead.
Psychopath with sociopathic tendencies. She knew it and had diagnosed herself, but she hid it so well that she had surprised even herself when this had all started in her sixth year.
This year, her name was Rose.
Small, quiet, shy, beautiful rose.
Every rose had its thorns though, and everyone could be pricked.
Her thorns were covered in poison, it slowly seeped into the school, into each of the students until someone was dead and all that was left in her wake was sorrow and heartache.
Her target was a small boy, so naive and so kind and sweet that he gave her a stomachache. He annoyed her.
At the beginning of the school year, she made sure he noticed her. She sat next to him, threw him a rare smile now and then and asked to borrow his notes every so often. Now towards the end of the year, she began paying more attention to him, talking to him and asking him on study dates for their exams, acting more his type which seemed to be the shy yet outgoing.
Then she asked him out.
He said no, so she tried a bit harder and asked again. She kept on until he finally said yes. She went through an entire date with the boy, and all he wanted was to talk about Duel Monsters.
"Yugi, do you mind if we go somewhere quieter? I know a place down by a small pond, I would love it if you'd teach me how to play!"
Smiling as little Yugi Motou agreed, they stopped by his house and he ran in and grabbed two decks before meeting her outside where they proceeded to the pond.
She had no interest in Duel Monsters, she already knew how to play, knew she could beat nearly anyone with her magnificent deck. It was boring when you knew it all, she didn't want to waste time 'learning' it all over again.
However she noticed that when he began teaching her, he seemed to turn into another person all together. He was more confident, more alluring and for the first time she was actually hesitant to put her plan into action.
But she plowed on with it, and when she won (though she was pretending to have no clue what she was doing so he had to have let her win) she reached over in a perfectly executed 'excited kiss'.
A blush rose to her cheeks, though that bit had been unplanned but she'd felt something in that kiss that she'd never felt before.
All it took was that one kiss and her thorn had pricked him. She quickly flicked the small, unassuming weapon off of her finger before grinning happily.
"I think I've got it, let's try again!"
By the end of the duel, where he had once again allowed her to win, she noticed he was looking quite pale and his movements were slowing down. If he tried to stand up, she knew he'd just fall right back down.
"It looks like you're not feeling well, Yugi. I suppose my special surprise is finally kicking in," Rose smiled as Yugi moved his gaze to meet her own.
"What have you done?"
"It's poison. Concentrated Black Mamba snake venom. You'll be dead soon. I have waited all year for this, I have been so patient and now it's finally paying off. Isn't it great?"
Rose grinned maniacally, her white teeth flashing in the fading sunlight as she stood over the defenseless, useless naive little boy. She was so tired of waiting, she just wanted to wrap her thin, manicured fingers around his throat and slowly crush his windpipe.
But she didn't, because she was raised to be patient.
A great weight pushed into her, a man nearly a foot taller than she had shoved her straight to the ground before rolling her onto her stomach and holding her delicate hands behind her back.
Something was tied securely around her wrists before the weight lifted off of her and she was able to move her head in order to see who had decided it would be a good idea to mess with someone as dangerous as she was.
Long white trench coat, with short brown hair combed to perfection and a dangerously serious face.
Seto Kaiba stood over her, sneering down at her form before moving over to Yugi.
Seto had almost been Rose's victim, she'd been close to choosing him but at the last minute decided Yugi deserved to die just a little more. It wasn't until now that she realized perhaps she should have stuck with her original choice.
When the sirens came within earshot, she stopped struggling to get loose and began to think about what would happen to her.
She'd killed a lot of people, she'd be in jail for life, or put to death. She didn't want to die by anyone else's hands, she wanted to choose when she died and how.
So she chose. She managed to roll herself on her knees while Seto was busy before getting one foot underneath herself and pushed herself to her feet.
An ambulance pulled up and not a few moments later three police cars. As the first responders rushed towards the dying boy next to Seto, the officers rushed towards her with guns drawn.
She chose, she made her decision and she was sure it was the right one.
She rushed at the officers, teeth bared to look as vicious as possible and the officers stopped, prepared their weapons and shot.
The force of at least six bullets impacting her caused her to stumble and she fell to her knees. Unable to stop herself from slamming into the ground due to Seto having tied her hands together, her face planted itself in the ground and she grinned.
She was headed to a grave but at least she'd chosen her own death, it was better than someone else choosing for her.
"What poison did you use? Rose! Tell me! What was it?" Seto ran to her, grabbing her and rolling her over to her back. Blood flowed past her grinning lips, staining her once white teeth a brilliant red.
"Black mamba venom, but you won't save him. He's long gone, Kaiba. I hope to meet him in hell."
She choked, making a feeble attempt at coughing before her body seemed to collapse upon itself.
She was gone, but Yugi Moto had a stronger will to live and once they knew what venom was being used, it was simple to get him to the hospital and give him the antidote.
He would live, but she had died much too young. Even though it was her own fault, he'd spend much of his life wishing things could have gone better.
